Today’s Horse Racing Tips - 28th April 2024

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for April 28.

Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Taree, Narromine, Ballarat, Rockhampton, Strathalbyn, Albany and Hobart.

TAREE: RACE 3 @ 1:45 PM

RUM DIARY (1) looks the one to beat after one run back for a closing third at Wyong a couple of weeks ago. Done nothing wrong and with even luck from the gate should take beating. SHEZ LETHAL (8) has been around the mark without winning of late and draws nicely again. One of the main chances. CHASERLETTE (6) dropped in trip when four over 1000m here earlier in the month so the rise in trip again will suit. Definite chance. GIVE IT A NUDGE (10) and AMPLE TIME (4) are worth considering.
SELECTIONS: Rum Diary to win. Trifecta 1-4,6,8,10/4,6,8,10.

NARROMINE: RACE 5 @ 3:22 PM

GIVING DELIGHT (2) is fitter for two runs back and was in the market when fourth at Scone last time out in a stronger event. Well placed here and should go close. DUBLIN (10) is a big watch at his first run for Brett Robb and with blinkers on. Form in the south was handy. SCORPIUS (6) shapes as an improver second-up and YAEL'S DELIGHT (15) ran well first-up and has each-way claims if she's able to back it up. D'ARPANO (13) could be placed.
SELECTIONS: Giving Delight to win.

BALLARAT: RACE 1 @ 1:15 PM

Pretty hard to go past SIGNOR BILL (6). Chased home recent Flemington winner Epimeles on debut and backed it up with a solid effort at Pakenham. Step up in trip suits. Expected to go close here. ROYAL VICTORY (5) hit the line well on debut at Geelong. Will be improved by that experience and is expected to run well. HALO PHENOMENA (2) showed improvement from debut to second outing when run down late after leading. Will be further improved. Has claims. PRINCE PINOT (3) is going to find this more to his liking rather than chasing the speedy Bold Bastille at Bendigo. One of hopes here.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Signor Bill.

ROCKHAMPTON: RACE 5 @ 3:05 PM

PENMAN (3) resumed as favourite first-up and wasn't beaten far despite proving a handful for Stanley. He sticks aboard and he has plenty up his sleeve. Will race forward from an inside gate and comes back in grade. Fitter and can go one better. STREET GOD (7) resumes and won the Maiden comfortably here before the spell. Has a low gate and small claim and is likely to return further improved. Will get every chance from an inside barrier. GOLD REVOLUTION (12) resumed with a near miss at Thangool. Had switched yards and she has more to give. Will push forward and won't be far away with average luck. FIGHT IN THE DOG (1) found one too good and Mackay and is going well enough to consider.
SELECTIONS: Backing Penman.

STRATHALBYN: RACE 3 @ 3:10 PM

HARD PRINCE (2) had his first run in South Australia when resuming and finished runner-up at Gawler. The extra 150 metres is just what he wants and he is poised to go one better this time. STAR VALOUR (5) has been running on in both of his starts to date and should be at his peak fitness third up. If he can stay in touch early on then he is capable of having a say in the finish. GOLD SPY (1) picked up some late ground on debut at Murray Bridge over 5 weeks ago and has been given plenty of time to get over that effort. He will be improved by his race day experience and with the blinkers on for the first time, he can figure in the finish. ANABOLIC (7) found some form at Port Lincoln last start when running third. She is suited by the pole position and won't find this much harder. Stick with her on an each-way basis.
SELECTIONS: Hard Prince to win.

ALBANY: RACE 3 @ 4:26 PM

DEMITO (3) is looking for the hat-trick after an impressive 1.2L victory at Narrogin last time out. She's in great form at the moment and was a strong winner at this track and trip two starts back. Should be prominent from the draw again and take plenty of catching. ROMERO (6) had been ticking along nicely down the Pinjarra straight before a disappointing effort most recently. His record at the trip is a niggle, but his figures from recent starts stack up nicely. Can bounce back and be in the finish. BLUE LINE (1) is better than he showed last time out and getting back to this trip may hold the key. Chris Parnhan hops in the saddle which is a positive sign and this is a much easier race than what he contested last start. Won't be far away. BITOVEMU (5) finished behind Demito better at the weights this time and has claims from a nice alley. DYNAMITE BAY (2) can bounce back dropping back to this distance.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Demito.

HOBART: RACE 9 @ 4:44 PM

SAXON MIST (4) has won his last two over this distance and keeps improving. 4 Winners have come out of the latest and keeping the handy 3kg claim she can keep the ball rolling. BRAZEN IMPACT (5) led and turned the form around belting the 62 graders at Launceston by 4L over 1620m. He will run along from the rail and is a chance to repeat. ADACHI (2) has been around the mark and had excuses last time from a wide barrier. Has an inside gate today and has been kept on the fresh side. Consider. RIGOLETTO (1) keeps racing well and the 3kg claim brings him into it.
SELECTIONS: With Saxon Mist.
