Season Closes At Broken Hill

3 minute read

The curtain has fallen on another successful season for the Broken Hill Harness Racing Club culminating with their Carnival of Cups meeting.

The meeting last Friday week also featured the appearance of Adam Brand.

In keeping with the recent resurgence of harness racing in the Silver City, record prizemoney was offered during the season including the $15,000 Coughlan Drilling Pty Ltd Pacing Cup.

Fittingly, the club’s biggest race of the year was won by Bettatobelucky who was named local horse of the year in 2013 and again in 2014.

In the season just completed Bettatobelucky had 10 starts for seven wins, two thirds and a fourth. He recorded the fastest times over the distances of 1900m, 2210m and 2500m (which was a track record).

His trainer Don Pimm and regular driver Cassie Robinson were the leading trainer and driver respectively.

Pimm won 11 races from 54 starters and Robinson steered home 12 winners from 48 appearances in the bike.

The Broken Hill Harness Racing Club President Tracey Robinson said: “I’d like to thank all of our sponsors especially Dean and Trish from Coughlan Drilling Pty Ltd. Their generosity often goes unrecognised, but without it the Carnival of Cups at Broken Hill would not be as successful as it is.”
