Bettatobelucky Hoping To Go Back To Back

3 minute read

The Coughlan Drilling Broken Hill Pacing Cup will be run on Friday night and driver Cassie Robinson is hoping Bettatobelucky can repeat his effort from last year by winning the event.

It was a case of déjà vu when the barrier draw was released with Bettatobelucky drawing gate six, the same position he drew last year.

“At Broken Hill there is only five off the front so that means he will start off the inside of the second row but he had that draw last year and proved too strong so hopefully he can do it again,” Cassie Robinson said.

“It is very hard to measure up all of the horses in this year’s Cup because there is only one other local horse in the race and because the track is only 600 metres in circumference a lot of horses don’t take to it straight away.”

Bettatobelucky got a split inside the final lap in last year’s Cup after racing behind the leader but it took the son of Ifihadyourluck a long time to pick up the leader Montana Madge.

“There was a lot of speed on last year and the death seat horse started to drop off inside the final lap. I was able to get out but it took me a fair while to wear down the leader and we got there right on the line.”

“It was a massive thrill for me and after he won his C0 at Mildura the plan was always to get him ready for the Broken Hill Cup last year and his form this season has been very consistent so it became the logical target again.”

Robinson will drive in every event on the six race card.

“Yeah I’ve got a few drives on Friday night but most of them have drawn pretty badly and when that happens you always need a fair share of luck.”

“It will be a very big weekend at Broken Hill over the weekend, the harness meeting is on Friday night, the gallop meeting is on Saturday afternoon, I’m going to head out there and watch them too and the greyhounds are on Saturday night.”
