3 minute read

The Group 2 Zabeel Mile is one of the headline races on a strong card at the Meydan tonight.

The Carnival has been dominated by Godolphin to this point and the boys in blue saddle four of the nine runners in the Zabeel Mile, so it can certainly continue, but at least there is depth here and it shoudn't be a local walkover.

Chief challenger away from the blue colours in the Zabeel Mile is QEII placegetter Century Dream  who had a terrific 2018 for Simon Crisford and is looking to continue that form into the new year.

He links up with Oisin Murphy who will also be out to continue his great 2018 form in 2019 and the pair should take a power of beating with his versatile racing pattern a big bonus for him. He should take up close order here and that profile suits the Meydan mile.

Jockey bookings hint at Mythical Magic being the Godolphin number one seed under William Buick. He chased gamely and posted a career best when second to his sharp stablemate in the Al Fahidi Fort with plenty of tonight's rivals in behind. There's no great reason to think that any of them turn the tables up to the mile with Mythical Magic likely to have benefited from that run as much as any. He only stepped out twice in 2018 so there's plenty of room to improve with racing.

Stablemate Wootton resumes tonight and perhaps this will be his turn to need the run. Having said that, he was sent out favourite in the French 2000 Guineas last season and while he came up short at the highest level in 2018 he remains a smart prospect for 2019.

That trio look to hold the aces though Comin' Through is one that should run an improved race up to the mile and the Australian galloper is certainly not out of place at this level.

Suggested Bet: Back Mythical Magic in the Zabeel Mile.
