Brazilian horseman Dayversom Barros enjoyed his best day yet at the Taipa racetrack with a winning treble on Saturdays mixed turf and sand program.
Barros was in fine form on the day and opened his account with last stride win on the Victor Chan trained Tagmaster in the Class 3 & 4 over 1800 metres on the turf.
Put into a nice trailing spot one out and one back by Barros, Tagmaster traveled well in the run and peeled out to make his challenge on straightening. The pacemakers The Macallan (Charlie Chan) and Modena Best (Oscar Chavez) didn't surrender without a fight however, with the three having a battle royal down the straight with Tagmaster prevailing by head on the line from The Macallan, with Modena Best a short head away in third.
Superlative Choice from the Alan Tam yard was the next of Barros' winners when he ran away with the Class 3 & 4 over 1800 metres (turf) after a lovely rails hugging ride by the Brazilian.
The grey son of Hidden Dragon (Aus) defeated Blackjack Mok (Breinell Yamzon), with Franklin Lane (Stephane Ladjadj running in third.
Barros rounded out his day with a big win on the Tommy Tse – Louis Ho prepared Simply Impeccable in the Class 2 over 1510 metres (sand).
Simply Impeccable is a son of the 2002 Dubai World Cup winner Street Cry (Ire) who is relishing the Taipa sand track and Saturday's win gave him his third win on the surface.
A former New Zealand galloper Simply Impeccable raced there under the same name winning a Maiden race at Matamata over 1200 metres on a heavy track, and placed on four other occasions from his 14 runs there when prepared by Danica Guy.
Barros who only joined the Macau jockeys ranks in September has now ridden 13 winners and 11 placings from his 81 rides and is in sixth spot on the riders standings.
Luis Corrales was another rider that enjoyed a fine afternoon on Saturday with a winning double aboard Winnie Star and Silent Height.
In the 3 & 4 Year Old Handicap rating band 0 to 55, Winnie Star from the Patrick Lee stable made it two starts for two wins in the enclave when he produced a brilliant turn of foot under Corrales to grab runaway leader Special Charger (Massa Tanaka) right on the wire, with Heat Of The Battle (Fausto Henrique) in third.
A former Godolphin bred horse Winnie Star was purchased by Patrick Lee for owner Mr. Chung Tat Fi for A$31,000 at the 2019 Gold Coast National Racehorse Sale.
A son of Medaglia D'Oro (USA), Winnie's Star looks assured of a good future with the four year olds run time of 1.08.8 being just a tick slower than the Class 1 taken out by Lover Paradise.
Corrales capped his day off with an easy win in the last of the day the Class 5 over 1050 metres on the sand surface on top of the Stephen Chow trained Silent Height.
Silent Height gave nothing else a chance virtually leading all the way to beat the race favorite Crown Of Gold (Breinell Yamzon), with Filial Piety (Stephane Ladjadj) in third.
Lover Paradise made it win number 10 in Macau when he produced a late surge under Roger Yu to snatch victory in a great three way finish to the Class 1 & 2 over 1200 metres on the turf.
Prepared by Tony Fung, Lover Paradise at one time was unbeaten on the turf winning five straight on the surface. Saturday's victory gave the son of Canford Cliffs (Ire) his eighth win over the 1200 metres course with his other two wins at 1500 metres. The now five year old was not disgraced in running fourth beaten six lengths in last year's Derby behind Sacred Capital in race record time.
Lover Paradise is a former Aquis Farm horse that was registered in Australia as Dorset but never graced the race track or barrier trialed.
The win continued the good run for Roger Yu who is currently leading the Jockeys' Premiership on 21 wins, five ahead of Oscar Chavez on 16 with Fausto Henrique in third spot on 15 victories.
