This week's news-in-brief covers Face Time Bourbon's win in Finland, a change of trainer for Sealiway and a Turkish entry in the G3 Prix de Psyché (2000m) at Deauville...

Face Time Bourbon

Although his bid to break Sebastian K's one-mile world record came up short, Face Time Bourbon still recorded an easy 1:52.1 win in the St. Michel's Races in Finland on Sunday. Thunderstorms earlier in the day caused the track to perform slower but Face Time Bourbon stayed on strongly to run out a convincing winner.

Booster Winner

Booster Winner sired his first classic winner towards the end of June with Ibra du Loisir. The young stallion has sired nine winners since the start of July and currently sits in the top eight stallions for the month.

Hambletonian Trial Races

In the United States the Hambletonian trial races were held last week ahead of the feature race on August 7th, 2021. The US leading trotting stallion Muscle Hill sired one trial winner courtesy of Sonofamiserly whilst French superstar stallion Ready Cash's son, Readily Express sired the other winner Dancinginthedark M. This success created strong interest not just in the race but from a stallion's perspective, either side of the Atlantic.

Freyja du Pont

The seventh round of the Trophée Vert series at Royan-la-Palmyre was won by Freyja du Pont. The Nicolas Bazire-trained six-year-old started from 25m over the 3100m distance and gave the young recently licensed trainer his biggest success to date. Series final will be held at Craon in early September.

Sealiway

According to France Galop, Sealiway is now in training with Cédric Rossi. The highest-rated three-year-old in France, following his three-and-a-quarter length second to St Mark's Basilica in the G1 Prix du Jockey Club (2100m), was previously in training with Frédéric Rossi for whom he won the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère (1400m) as a two-year-old.

Mickaëlle Michel

Mickaëlle Michel will be making her debut in the Shergar Cup at Ascot on the 7th of August. She will join Hayley Turner and many more in the Ladies Team. This will be her first-time riding in Great Britain.

Meiner Virtus

Meiner Virtus has been entered for the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (2400m) in October. The Japanese based five-year-old has found a liking for soft ground however is yet to race in Group company. He will contest the G3 Hakodate Kinen (2000m) on Sunday where a victory would guarantee a place in France's feature race.

Light of Darkness

Light of Darkness, the best three-year-old filly in Turkey, is amongst the entries for the G3 Prix de Psyché (2000m) at Deauville on the 3rd of August. The filly who cost an astonishing US$1,000 at the November Keeneland has already racked up seven wins from thirteen career outings.
