This week's news-in-brief includes the retirement of Wonderful Tonight, Thomas Fourcy's likely runners in the G1 Arabian Cup on Arc Day and the return of Falcao de Laurma...

Timour

Timour ran in the colours of Australian-based Oti Racing for the first time when third in the G2 Prix Niel (2400m) at Longchamp on Sunday. Connections have announced the horse will remain in training in France with André Fabre instead of flying to Sydney on 12 October as originally planned. He is likely to be aimed towards the G2 Prix Chaudenay on 2 October.

Charlotte Janneau

Charlotte Janneau recorded her first success as a jockey when guiding Falmouth Light to a win in the Prix Gilles Tartoue Et Ennoia Patrimoine at La Roche-sur-Yon on 12 September. Falmouth Light was her nineteenth ride.

Défi du Galop

After the eleventh stage of the Défi du Galop at Craon, three horses are tied in first on twelve points: Ateem, Moderator and Monty. Jean-Claude Rouget leads the trainer standings whilst Mickael Barzalona tops the jockey rankings.

Thomas Fourcy

Thomas Fourcy is expected to be well-represented in the G1 Arabian World Cup on Arc Day at Longchamp with eight runners; Lady Princess, Tayf, Khataab, Hoggar de Ardus, Mounjared Al Cham, Nalink, Melabi and Abbes. The pick of the eight entries is Abbes, who won the G1 UK Arabian Derby at Doncaster on Saturday for His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Triple Threat

Triple Threat has moved to Haras de Toury after serving four years at Haras du Mont Goubert. A triple Group One winner, Triple Threat is the first son of Monsun available to breeders in the South-East since Network. He will stand for 2,200 euros for the 2022 season.

Galius

Winner of the G1 Critérium des 5 Ans at Vincennes, Galius will be given a chance to recover before returning to the track. He has been withdrawn from the G1 Prix Normandie and is likely to return later in the campaign.

Wonderful Tonight

David Menuisier's stable-star Wonderful Tonight suffered an injury on the gallops Friday morning and has been retired to stud. The mare was scheduled to run on Arc Trials day followed by a tilt at the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (2400m).

Calgary Games

An impressive winner of the G1 Swedish Derby at Jagersro on Sunday, Calgary Games remains unbeaten after seven career starts. His success is generating plenty of interest from breeders across the world and trainer Timo Nurmos emphasised that no decision has been made about the stud career of this colt. Connections would like to target the G1 Grand Prix d'Amerique in 2022.

Falcao de Laurma

Winner of the G1 Critérium des 4 Ans in 2019, Falcao de Laurma requalified at Caen on Thursday and successfully completed with a kilometre rating of 1'14"1. The colt has suffered with injury and been absent since August 2020.

Cuatro de Julio

French-bred Cuatro de Julio impressed with a victory in a Kentucky Championship Series contest at Lexington on Wednesday, recording a mile rating of 1'09"0. Despite disappointing in the Hambletonian, the colt's trainer Louis Baudron is confident he can continue to go from strength to strength for the remainder of the season.

Francesco Satalia

Apprentice Francesco Satalia achieved his first career success as a jockey when taking the Prix Summer at Le Croise-Laroche on Tuesday with Loisaba. Brother of the trainer David Satalia, Francesco has ridden seven races in Italy.

Gangster du Wallon

Second in the G1 Criterium des 5 Ans at Vincennes, Gangster du Wallon could try his luck in the G1 Prix de Normandie. His trainer Damien Lecroq is likely to confirm in the upcoming week.
