Deauville racecourse (also known as Hippodrome Deauville-La Touques) is located in the Calvados region, Normandy, France. During the summer, good sized crowds can be found at Deauville with the town also a popular seaside resort. Originally called "Hippodrome de la Touques", it was named after the Touques River that separates the city of Deauville from Trouville-sur-Mer. It was constructed in 1862 with the first meeting a year later. Napoleon III's half-brother, Charles Auguste Louis Joseph, duc de Morny was a key member of the original development.

The breeding industry (for both thoroughbred and trotting) around Deauville and within Normandy is as crucial as the racecourse with multiple and well-known breeding farms in the region. Alongside top-quality racing, in August and October renowned yearling sales take place.

Deauville is a 75-hectare facility that hosts thoroughbred flat racing on both turf and the all-weather. The racetrack also has the only straight 1600m course in France. Across all seasons, Deauville attracts plenty of international interest for both racing and sales. Twenty hectares of the venue are dedicated to the tracks. The track is one of the top-quality courses in France with six Group One races each year alongside four Group Two and ten Group Three contests. Since the introduction of the All-Weather Championships in the UK (held on Good Friday in March or April), Deauville stages at least one fast track qualifier for the final. There are around 36 annual meetings usually taking in eight months of the year.Winter meetings are held solely on the all-weather and attract capacity fields.Floodlights are being introduced on the all-weather track with the first meeting under lights scheduled for late 2021On average there is 60.8/87.2 horses per meeting. (Turf/All-weather)On average there are 11.3/13.3 horses per race. (Turf/All-weather)
