The Maxime Bezier-trained five-year-old Girly Beco built built on her solid fourth in the G1 Prix de Normandie (3000m) at Vincennes with a thrilling victory in the G1 Prix des Elites (2200m).
The race was run at a frenetic pace thanks to the enthusiastic Inouï Danica and the race had already changed dramatically when the well-fancied three-year-old Ici C'Est Paris was disqualified early. Patiently handled off the pace by Guillaume Martin the pair began to make steady progress 300m from home as the pace began to collapse. The daughter of Tiégo d'Etang took it up with 100m to go but it looked for all the while that she was going to be picked up by Granvillaise Bleue. However, she showed a brilliant battling attitude to go on to a nose success, a first at Group One level.
