Statistic Of The Week – Champions of 2020.

2020 was a unique year in every aspect of life but as we enter 2021, we look back at the Trotting Champions of the 2020 French Feature Races series.  

This Feature Race series celebrates the Champion Trotter-Francais for each age. Once again, some big-name performers consolidated their high-grade status after achieving more success.   

Overall RankingFace Time Bourbon 

The Sébastien Guarato star retains the title achieving this honor for the second year year in a row. The son of Ready Cash is not a surprise winner but a deserving one with 2020 victories including G1 Grand Prix Grand Prix d'Amérique (2700m), G1 Prix de Selection (2200m), G1 Prix Rene Balliere (2100m) G1 Grand Prix de Wallonie (Mons, Belgium) (2300m), G1 Criterium des 5 ans (3000m), G1 Prix de L'Etoile (2200m), G2 Prix Marcel Laurent (2100m), G2 Prix du Bourbonnais (2850m) and the G2 Prix de Bourgogne (2100m).   

Two-year-old RankingItaliano Vero 

Italiano Vero achieved five wins in succession from mid-October including two in Back Type races – G3 Prix Ourasi (2200m) and the G2 Prix Emmanuel Margouty (2175m).   

Three-year-old RankingHooker Berry 

A consistent performer from the Jean-Michel Bazire stable who found success on multiple occasions at the top levels in the past twelve months including G3 Prix Henri Cravoisier (1609m) at Enghien, G2 Prix Pierre Plazen (2700m) and G2 Prix Jacques de Vauloge (2700m). The placings from Hooker Berry are also impressive including runner up in the G1 Prix Albert Viel (2700m) and third in the G1 Criterium des 3 Ans (2700m).   

Four-year-old RankingGu D'Heripre 

A top class horse from the Philippe Billard yard who recorded a Group level hat trick this time last year at Vincennes. Notable efforts include second in the G1 Criterium des 4 Ans (2850m), successful in the G2 Prix Octave Douesnel (2700m) before qualifying for the G1 Grand Prix d'Amérique in qualifier three – G1 Criterium Continental (2100m) when winning.   

Five-year-old RankingFace Time Bourbon   

Five-year-olds and above RankingBilibili 

This mounted star raced at the age of nine in 2020 and despite only having five outings, Laurent-Claude Abrivard managed to achieve triumphs in all Mounted starts. These included his second consecutive victory in the G1 Grand Prix de Cornulier (2700m) then followed by the G1 Prix de L'Ile de France (2175m) along with the G2 Prix du Calvados (2850m).
