Monty
Following the withdrawal of Skaletti, Monty is now the sole representative in this Group One hightlight for trainer Jérôme Reynier, but still holds claims to be involved at the finish. The six-year-old maintains a good record of five wins from fifteen career outings which includes two runs back in a class one 2000m event at La Teste before a good fifth in the G2 Prix d'Harcourt (2000m) at this venue three weeks ago however faded late. If handling this grade will hold place claims.
Gold Trip
Gold Trip is a top class four-year- old who produced a career best performance in last year's G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (2400m) when two lengths fourth behind Sottsass. His fifth behind multiple re-opposing rivals in the G2 Prix d'Harcourt (2000m) however did suggest a need to step forward but will be fitter for the once run back. Nonetheless a horse of this class remains hard to rule out.
Mare Australis
Mare Australis makes the shortlist. This lightly raced four-year- old has shown promise in each of his five racecourse appearances including a close second in the G2 Prix d'Harcourt (2000m). He is the best performer from that race in finishing order (runner up to Skaleetti taken out of this contest) and is of interest if keeping his power and authority over similar rivals again. Comes with plenty of appeal.
Magny Cours
Magny Cours is the second runner from the André Fabre stable after Mare Australis and again holds claims. Five victories from nine attempts is impressive as well as his excellent third in the G1 Dubai World Cup (2000m) at Meydan (UAE). He received the perfect lead up to this race with a winning seasonal reappearance effort at Chantilly and if at best, could be a significant chance.
Wonderful Moon
Managed fifth in last season's G1 Deutsches Derby (2400m), behind 2020 G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe runner-up In Swoop (Adlerflug). Wonderful Moon (Sea The Moon) is a G2 winner who made a below par return in a Cologne Listed event last month. Will need to improve considerably for that outing but is not to be underestimated racing for this shrewd trainer.
Mogul
The dual G1 winner by Galileo, trained by Aidan O' Brien, arrives after a 6.5L seventh behind Mishriff (Make Believe) in the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic (2400m) at Meydan in March. Officially joint top-rated in the line-up, the drop in distance is a concern though he does hold course form, winning the G1 Grand Prix de Paris (2400m) on good ground last September. Could be finishing best of all.
Ecrivain
The four-year-old Lope de Vega colt has finished behind Skalleti in both his previous two starts including a 3.75L defeat in the G2 Prix d'Harcourt (2100m) last month. It is unlikely he will be able to reverse that form and lacks the pace to be involved in the finish at this trip against top performers.
