The G1 International Grand Prix de France (2100m) is the feature race on Sunday at Vincennes. Out of the three races in the 'Trotting Triple Crown' (Prix d'Amerique/de France/de Paris), the Grand Prix de France offers a thorough test of speed. We look back at the past decade.

In the past ten years, international success has been mixed with only Sweden achieving victory over the French trained Trotters (Swedish horses are highlighted in light pink/orange).

Over the years, top class performers have been able to demonstrate a high standard of form in both the G1 Grand Prix de France (2100m) and the G1 Grand Prix d'Amérique (2700m), held two weeks earlier.

Winners of both include - Grouse in 1956 and 1957, Jamin in 1958 and 1959, 1976: Bellino II, 1980: Eléazar, 1982: Hymour, 1984: Lurabo, 1986, 1987, 1988: Ourasi, 1996: Cocktail Jet, 1999: Moni Maker, 2009: Meaulnes du Corta, 2011: Ready Cash and 2016, 2017: Bold Eagle.

In 2011, Swedish raider Maharajah finished runner up in this event and filled the same position two weeks prior in the Grand Prix d'Amérique before winning the G1 Grand Prix de Paris (4125m). Royal Dream was successful in the 2013 G1 Grand Prix d'Amérique before a second in this. Timoko has frequently featured in the G1 Grand Prix de France (2100m) with one victory (2015) and three placings since 2010 – runner up in 2016 and 2017 but third in 2013. In addition, Bold Eagle demonstrated his ability with two wins and a pair of placings in the contest within the past decade. Most importantly he made history when completing the 'Trotting Triple Crown' in 2017, winning all three Group One contests. Current champion Facetime Bourbon could only manage second twelve months ago behind Davidson du Pont, a reversal of the placings from the 2020 G1 Grand Prix d'Amérique.

Horses that have won the Grand Prix d'Amérique and Grand Prix de France double are highlighted in blue.

Only genuine Champions can complete the double. However, seven of the past eleven running's of the Grand Prix de France has seen the winner or a placegetter from the Grand Prix d'Amerique winning the race.

This top-class race does not only crown the Sprinter of the Winter Meeting but also provides clues to future Group One winners.

We look at the G1 Prix de France winner's performed in that season's 'Trotting Triple Crown' series.
