This week's news-in-brief covers racing plans for Power, a new record at Auteuil and an update on Délia du Pommereux...

Power

Trainer Robert Bergh has entered Swedish horse, Power in the G2 Prix Doynel de Saint-Quentin at Vincennes on Saturday. One of the best horses of his generation, Power won the G1 Svenskt Trav-Kritérium at three and recorded a victory in the G1 Prix de Croix when last seen in France.

Francois Nicolle

Francois Nicolle set a new record for the number of winners by a single trainer in one season at AuteuilSrelighonn's victory in the G2 Prix George Courtois marks his sixty-third success in 2021.

Bilooka du Boscail

It has been announced that G3 Grand Prix de Salon-d-Provence third Bilooka du Boscail will be targeted at the G1 Prix du Cornulier on 23 January. Trainer Yves Hurel confirmed that Nathalie Henry – winner of 375 mounted races including six Group Ones – would take the ride.

Kennella

G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches third Kennella who finished fourth in the Listed Prix Ceres at Fontainebleau on 18 November has options including a possible trip to the Meydan Carnival commencing in January. There are also dedicated fillies spring races in France she will be targeted at.

Délia du Pommereux

Délia du Pommereux returned to Vincennes for a vital piece of training work ahead of her run in the G2 Prix du Bourbonnais. The G1 Grand Prix de Paris winner had to miss all engagements since her race at Caen on 23 October following a dirty scope.

Don Fanucci Zet

The 2021 Elitloppet winner Don Fanucci Zet won again in Solvalla on Friday. Trainer Daniel Reden was pleased with the effort (1'10 over last 400m) and has indicated that his next target is likely to be either G2 Prix du Bourgogne or the G2 Prix de Belgique in preparation for a tilt at the G1 Grand Prix d'Amerique

High Line Pellini

High Line Pellini finished third at Solvalla on Saturday. He has a particularly eye catching pedigree as a full-brother to champions Readly Express and Bold Eagle

Very Elleegant

Chris Waller has announced his intentions to travel at least three horses to Europe in 2022 including the Melbourne Cup winner Verry Elleegant. The owners of the six-year-old mare would like to target the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (2400m) and will also be looking at races in the UK. She will return to racing mid-February and is likely to be accompanied by stable-mates Nature Strip and Home Affairs

Héliade du Goutier

Héliade du Goutier confirmed her position as a speed specialist when taking the G3 Prix de Boissy-Saint-Léger last Sunday week at Vincennes. She will now head for the Critérium Continental with conditions likely to suit.

Dizzy Bizu

Dizzy Bizu ended his successful season with a Listed success in the Critérium de Vitesse for trainer Stephane Wattel. The colt will remain in training for his three-year-old campaign rather than be sent to stud, as previously announced.

Chica de Joudes

Chica de Joudes is expected to line up for the G2 Prix du Bourbonnais on 12 December although trainer Alan Laurent has suggested they will be tempted to put the mare under saddle with the intention of racing in the G1 Prix du Cornulier. The mare has never competed in mounted company, but her breeding suggests she will be competitive.

Richard Westerink

Trainer Richard Westerink has mapped out the future targets for stable-stars Etonnant and Frisbee d'Am, second and disqualified respectively in the G2 Prix de Bretagne. Both will be targeted at the Prix du Bourbonnais and connections are hoping Frisbee d'Am can qualify for the G1 Grand Prix d'Amerique.

Alessandro Gocciadoro

Italian trainer Alessandro Gocciadoro has sent horses to the training centre of Grosbois under the care of two employees, ready for a Vincennes campaign over the Winter. Betta Zack and Zanzibar Wise will be seen on the track at Vincennes on Thursday, but Bubble Effe needs more time before racing. Vivid Wise As has not travelled to Grosbois at this stage.

Sealiway

It has been indicated that G1 Champion Stakes winner Sealiway will commence his 2022 campaign in the G1 Saudi Cup, potentially accompanied by stable-mate Skazino. This will be his first attempt on the dirt, though connections have reported the colt has been working well on the sand. Sealiway will be prepared for an international campaign including the 'Arc' in October.

Face Time Bourbon

Face Time Bourbon's traditional lead-up programme to the G1 Prix d'Amerique has been changed for this year's Vincennes Winter Meeting, with the champion likely to compete in the G2 Prix du Bourbonnais rather than the G2 Prix du Bourgogne or the G2 Prix de Belgique. The aim is to have seven weeks off before the G1 Grand Prix d'Amerique and avoid the autostart in the G2 Prix du Bourgogne which can cause Face Time Bourbon to race too fresh.
