Suesa - G3 Prix Sigy (1100m) – Chantilly

Suesa ran out a mighty impressive three-and-a-half length winner of the G3 Prix Sigy (1100m) at Chantilly on Tuesday. The filly produced a smart turn of foot on her three-year-old reappearance and debut for prominent owner George Strawbridge who has raced many outstanding horses in France including Moonlight Cloud and in recent years Call The Wind.

With an inclination to over race in the early stages, Suesa was well-handled by Olivier Peslier. Pulled-out at the 200m pole she still appeared somewhat green before altering her stride and picking-up in eye-catching fashion. The change of scenery to Francois Rohaut's yard in Pau has clearly proved no issue and the unbeaten daughter of Night Of Thunder looks full of potential.

The success continues a brilliant start to Night Of Thunder's career at stud. Bred by Thomastown Farm, Suesa is out of the unraced mare Sally Is The Boss. Night Of Thunder has already produced 19 worldwide Black Type winners to date, including successes in last year's G2 Dante Stakes (2100m) [York, UK] and G3 Jersey Stakes (1400m) [Royal Ascot, UK].

Suesa still holds an entry in the G1 Poule D'Essai Des Pouliches (1600m) at Longchamp but it is likely that trip may stretch her. The G1 Commonwealth Cup (1200m) at Royal Ascot may prove a suitable long-term target. Quiet Reflection was the last horse to complete the double and it would be no surprise were this progressive filly to follow a similar route.
