Group One Review: Prix d'Ispahan.
Skalleti broke through for a well-deserved first Group One victory in the G1 Prix d'Ispahan (1850m) on Sunday 30 May...
Date | Sunday 30th May |
Venue | Longchamp |
Race | Prix d'Ispahan |
Type | 1850m - for four-year-olds and upwards |
Winner | Skalleti |
Jockey/Driver | Gerald Mosse |
Trainer | Jerome Reynier |
Breeding | Kendargent x Skallet |
Second | Tilsit |
Third | My Oberon |
Settled in the early stages of the race by Gerald Mosse, the seven-time Group winner made gradual headway and came with a late run on the outside to secure a head victory. The two UK raiders Tilsit and My Oberon took advantage of The Revenant's absence (withdrawn due to drying ground) to finish second and third respectively.
The success capped off an excellent weekend for trainer Jerome Reynier, who took both Listed contests at Bordeaux le Bouscat on Saturday 29 May before completing a Group race double at Longchamp with Marianafoot winning the G3 Prix du Palais-Royal (1400m).
Skaletti will be given a break over the summer and targeted at the G1 Champion Stakes (2000m) at Ascot in October.
