Statistic Of The Week of French Racing News - 1st June 2021.
When looking at the recent history of the G1 Prix du Jockey Club (2100m), it is clear that the race is developing a reputation as a stallion-making contest. The obvious example is Shamardal - until his death in April 2020, the G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains (1600m)/Prix du Jockey Club winner was responsible for 146 black-type winners. Shamardal's son Lope de Vega has established himself as one of the leading sires in the world with twelve Group One winners and more recently, Sottsass has joined Coolmore for a hefty stud fee of 30,000 euros.
