Iphigénia was an eye-catching winner on Tuesday night at Cabourg when pulling clear in the home straight to record a cosy success when eased down for an authoritative victory.

David Thomain got the three-year-old daughter of Ready Cash in a good early position despite being drawn seven, widest of the field on the front line as the race began. She showed speed in the opening section of the event however was still forced four deep as they negotiated the first turn. The driver then managed to settle the filly in third place, tracking the leader and got some cover to allow her to settle. Impériale du Mont won the battle for the lead and set the pace throughout the first circuit.

When the group made their way down the home straight at the halfway marker, around fifteen lengths covered the field. The winner was in a great position on the inside racing in third place still around three lengths off the leader. The pace quickened suddenly as they began their second lap. David Thomain made a big move with 800m to go and switched the filly to the outside and made solid headway to go runner up and then lead as at the same time Impériale du Mont broke stride.

Philippe Allaire's trained three-year-old seemed awkward rounding the final corner with her head carriage as she wanted to go left but David Thomain produced a great drive and nursed the filly back onto an even keel for the final 400m.

Iphigénia began to show her acceleration in eye-catching fashion in the home straight as pulled five lengths clear. No other rivals were able to respond and get close which allowed an easy and authoritative triumph as David Thomain had a long look round for dangers and eased down the Ready Cash filly in the final strides.

The daughter of Ready Cash has shown promise before this second career victory. She posted a good third on debut at Landivisiau in May before filling the same position at Saint-Malo later that month. She had a blip when DQ at Vichy in June prior to bouncing back to winning form at Amiens seven weeks ago. The filly struggled on a first attempt at Cabourg but displayed plenty of improvement this week. With two placings and two wins from six runs along with a notable trainer and driver combination, significant further progress is likely from this Ready Cash filly.

Ready Cash was a two-time G1 Grand Prix d'Amérique (2700m) winner (2011,2012) and was a top-grade performer with 33 Group wins in total and is matching similar quality in his stallion career with the likes of Face Time Bourbon and Bold Eagle to name just two.
