The G1 Prix Morny (1200m) is the feature race this weekend and showcases the best two-year-olds across Europe. The race will include horses from France as well as the UK and Ireland who will be looking to bring over a strong contingent. America have also done well in recent years thanks to Wesley Ward including twelve months ago with Campanelle who boosted their record in the race. We look at the numbers behind the horses.

It is run in memory of Auguste de Morny (1811–1865) who was the founder of Deauville Racecourse. The race staged its first renewal in 1865 and was originally called the Prix de Morny. It was conducted over a shorter trip of 1000m and since that first year has seen multiple changes to it's distance including both extending up to 1300m in 1868 after two years to being run at today's journey. There was a further step up in trip for 1870 when the event was over 1400m.

Foreign horses were first allowed to compete in 1947 and that year's race was won by a British trained colt Delirium.

George Stern holds the leading jockey title with ten victories in the highlight spanning from 1900 to 1925. The top trainer standing goes too Robert Denman who produced eight winners in the Group One between 1884 to 1912. Marcel Boussac holds a fantastic record in this event with thirteen triumphs from 1920 to 1955.
