He just had to be shaken up under hands and heels riding to get the better of the runner-up 200m out to win with something in hand. The front pair pulled clear of the remainder.
The son of Acclamation was a €160,000 yearling purchase and is a half-brother to a pair of Frankel progeny; Group-placed Syrtis and four-time winner Valyrian Steel, who has triumphed over as far as 2400m. His dam was a dual Listed sprint winner, notably in the Prix de Bonneval at Chantilly, which gives Fai Fai an attractive blend of speed and stamina in his pedigree.The youngster has entries in the G3 Prix la Rochette (1400m) at Longchamp next month and a lofty target in the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (1400m) in October.
