This week's news-in-brief covers Tarnawa's participation in the Breeders' Cup, racing plans for La Manigance and Gladys des Plaines...

Tarnawa

G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (2400m) runner-up Tarnawa will look to take her place in the G1 Breeders 'Cup Turf (2400m) at Del Mar on the first weekend in November. Trainer Dermot Weld expressed his happiness with the mare following a tough race in the Arc and suggests she is back in brilliant form.

National Service

The Gavin Hernon-trained National Service will not be seen again in 2021 after finishing last of eleven in the G2 Qatar Prix Daniel Wildenstein (1600m) at Longchamp. However, he did suggest the son of Elusive City will return as a five-year-old. If everything is going well, he should make his comeback at Chantilly in March, in the Class One Prix Darshaan.

Arqana October Yearlings Sale

It was an impressive start to the Arqana October Yearlings Sale as the cumulative total passed €25.8 million on Thursday evening. This comfortably passed the previous record of €20.56 million set in 2017.

Alicja Karkosa

Alicja Karkosa saddled her first winner Wednesday at Deauville when Mang'seko scored in the Prix de la Forêt d'Ecouves (1900m) (Class Three handicap). Originally from Poland, Alicja Karkosa is based in Lamorlaye with just three horses.

Penja

Previously trained by Jean-Claude RougetPenja, sold for an impressive €1.2 million at the Arqana Arc Sale and will now be aimed at the G3 Bahrain International Trophy (2000m) on November 19th for her new owner Jurgen Sartori. She is to be trained by Andreas Suborics.

Tim Donworth

Tim Donworth's excellent start to training in France has continued as he saddled his third consecutive winner thanks to Allada's success in the Prix de Hotot-en-Auge (1600m) (Newcomers) at Deauville.

Mlle Léa Lebeau

Léa Lebeau rode her first winner when the Florent Monnier-trained Sashemy scored in the Prix Couette Vet'ment (2200m) (Class Four Handicap) at Niort. The four-year-old daughter of George Vancouver won for the first-time under a well-timed ride. Léa Lebeau is currently an apprentice at Francois Monfort's stable.

Jumps

La Manigance

Owned by the Carion family, La Manigance, will now head to the G2 Prix Bournosienne (3600m) at Auteuil next month following her success in the Prix Loggia (3400m) (Conditions) at Compiegne. The daughter of No Risk At All remains unbeaten in both starts to date.

Trotting

Grand Prix d'Automne

Salon-de-Provence's feature went the way of the ten-year-old Boléro du Sablier as he denied Dixit Danica and Bérénice du Loisir last Sunday. The Bernard Thomas-trained and driven son of Halimède recorded his fifteenth career victory from one hundred and fourteen starts.

G1 Prix d'Amérique (2700m)

The likes of Vivid Wise As and Fakir du Lorault will be targeted at the G1 Prix d'Amérique (2700m) following their recent performances. Fakir du Lorault was recently successful in the G3 Prix de la Ville de Caen (4400m) whilst Vivid Wise As was last seen finishing a creditable seventh in the G1 Gran Premio Lotteria Finale (1600m) at Naples.

Gelati Cut

Romain Larue confirmed last weekend his champion Gelati Cut would not be in contention at the Vincennes winter meeting. He will unfortunately not be ready for the G1 Prix d'Amérique (2700m) and it is possible he will return abroad.

Gladys des Plaines

The Gilles Curens-trained dual Group One winner Gladys des Plaines will not participate in the mounted Prix Edmond Henry but will return to the harness in the Prix Doynel de Saint-Quentin. This is due to a positive case of myosotis which occurred a fortnight ago. Myosotis is a muscle disease that usually happens when exercising following a period of rest.

Izoard Védaquais

Barely breaking a sweat, this exciting three-year-old won the Class B Prix Pierre Trichet at Les Sables-d'Olonne last week. The Philippe Allaire-trained son of Bird Parker will now head to the Final of the Open des Régions – Ouest for three-year-olds at Nantes on November 10th.

Aetos Kronos

Top Swedish trotter Aetos Kronos has suffered a reaction to an anti-inflammatory during routine treatment. Trainer Jerry Riordan expressed the 5-year-old has since suffered from facial paralysis and his career now remains in the balance.
