Statistic Of The Week of French Trotting News - 7th January 2022.
This Sunday will see the G2 Prix du Calvados (2850m) step into the spotlight at Vincennes.
Currently at the entries stage, this year has potential to be another high-class renewal featuring the likes of three-time winner: Bilibili, Freeman de Houelle, Gladys des Plaines, Granvillaise Bleue and last year's victor Fado du Chêne.
Preparation for this race is always interesting with three-time winner Bilibili having contested a driven event prior to winning and is the only horse to have done so recently. The 2021 winner Fado du Chêne finished fifth in the G2 Prix Jules Lemonnier (2175m) last month, whilst Bilibili has once more followeda similar path having finished downfield in the G2 Grand Prix du Bourbonnais (2850m).
Our table below indicates those arriving from competing in a mounted race tend to follow-up with a success whilst the anomaly that is Bilibili is often well beaten before switching back to the saddle.
