Hong Kong Jockey Club buys two colts in South Africa

3 minute read

The Hong Kong Jockey Club purchased two well-bred, athletic colts from the recent National Yearling Sale in South Africa for a total outlay of ZAR5.2 million (HK$2.797 million).

Lot 55 was knocked down to the Club for ZAR4.2 million, making it one of the sale’s top lots. The colt is by the G1-winning Oasis Dream stallion Querari, out of champion South African filly Cherry On The Top - winner of the Triple Tiara in 2013.

The Club secured Lot 225 for ZAR1 million. The bay colt is by South Africa’s two-time champion sprinter What A Winter out of G2 winner Surabi. The dam is a half-sister to the multiple G1 winner Gypsy’s Warning, from a top-class family.
