Totaling ZAR4.8 million (approx. HK$2.502 million), two out of the three youngsters purchased by the Club were among the top three priced lots to go through the ring with Lot 191, the second highest seller at ZAR2.4 million.

A son of globetrotting super sire Silvano, Lot 191 is out of the mare Princess Royal and is a half-brother to G1 performer, Princess Calla, a three-time placegetter at the top-level, recently in the 2020 Cape Fillies Guineas and 2021 Paddock Stakes, both at Kenilworth, and beaten in the latter by only extremely gifted multiple G1 winners, Queen Supreme and Clouds Unfold.

At her final run in her three-year-old season, the colt's half sibling, Princess Calla, stepped up against older horses to contest the 2021 G1 Cape Town Met (2000m), finishing a gallant fifth to Rainbow Bridge. She returned following a short break earlier this month to capture the G3 Umzimkhulu Stakes (1400m) at Scottsville with ease.

Lot 153, a bay colt, was secured by the Club for ZAR900,000. The youngster is by Silvano, five-time Champion Sire in South Africa who won the 2001 QEII Cup prior to his stellar career as a stallion. He boasts five-time G1 winner Hawwaam among his progeny as well as four winners of the G1 Durban July Handicap (2200m), South Africa's richest race run annually at Greyville.

Lot 137 is a son of Gimmethegreenlight - the first three-year-old in 42 years to win the G1 Queen's Plate when beating two-time South African Horse of the Year Variety Club - and is out of the mare Mocha Special, making him a half-brother to two-time G2 winner Barahin, runner-up to Hawwaam in the 2019 G1 S A Classic (1800m) at Turffontein.
