Race 1: Class 6 (1300M) Allowance / KRW 40 Million

Picture: Korea Racing Authority

A filly-only maiden kicks things off. (2) WINNER TEMPLAR was a much-improved 2nd on her second start at this trip on July 27th, beating a couple of these in the process. She came from behind the pace with a strong finish and can do the same today. (9) HWANGGEUM STAR was 3rd that day and can be competitive once more although stronger challenges are expected from (6) VIRTUS, who returned from six months off with a solid 3rd place in June and comes in fresh again here. (1) CHEONEUN JJANG steps up in trip following back to back 3rd place finishes while (5) SUPER VICTOR steps back after a decent showing around 1700M last start and should be in the mix as well.

Selections (2) Winner Templar (6) Virtus (1) Cheoneun Jjang (5) Super Victor

Race 2: Class 6 (1300M) Allowance / KRW 24 Million

Weak maiden here. (2) BAEKSAEK GWANGCHAE only managed 5th when sent off at short odds over this distance on July 7th. He's one of only two in the field to have a runner-up finish to his name though and is probably worth another chance here. The other one is (9) ALL MY QUEEN, who ran 2nd in what was, for a wet track a low time on July 14th. She'll need to improve. That said, so will everything else. (8) BE ZENITH did nothing much wrong on debut at the end of June and the jockey booking will attract plenty. (3) BACK SPIN and (5) CITY SONGAM others with claims to improve.

Selections (2) Baeksaek Gwangchae (8) Be Zenith (5) City Songam (9) All My Queen

Race 3: Class 6 (1000M) Allowance / KRW 60 Million

Juvenile maidens with just three of the twelve having raced before. None of them have performed with much distinction though so it's the newcomers that we'll focus on. (5) BLUE KING didn't catch the eye in his first trial but was much quicker in a second in early July and if he brings that form to the races, has solid claims first up. (1) K TOP KING is out of a mare who, when she arrived in Korea, was the nation's most expensive ever imported racehorse. She ran well too, and K Top King looked good when winning a July trial. (10) DAEHAENGIDA also won his heat and may be considered while (8) NOLBU CHEONHA also performed well in the morning trials and should be in the hunt.

Selections (1) K Top King (10) Daehaengida (5) Blue King (8) Nolbu Cheonha

Race 4: Class 6 (1000M) Allowance / KRW 60 Million

More juvenile maidens, this time with only two having run before. However, this time, one of those has actually shown ability. After winning a trial in June, (10) RAON BEST MAN ran a very solid 3rd on debut on July 7th and that should be enough to make him a warm favourite here, likely leading all the way. The main danger is (4) HWANGGEUM HAE, who won a trial in a fast time on a sloppy track at the end of last month and looks to have ability. Others who hinted at some talent in the mornings include (1) PUNCH POWER, who won his trial, while (3) GEOMPO and (8) ARARIYO also looked useful.

Selections (10) Raon Best Men (4) Hwanggeum Hae (1) Punch Power (8) Arariyo

Race 5: Class 5 (1000M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

(7) HWARYONG ran 3rd in a decent class and distance race on August 10th, running on well. That was his second try at this level and looked promising. He'll probably start favourite here. That doesn't mean he'll win though. (1) P.K. GUNJU drops back in trip after a good 3rd over 1300M a month ago and should be dangerous from the inside gate while (6) ROAD WOMAN should also be much better for dropping back in distance today. Both (5) KING OF SUNDAY and (8) HOMECOMING return to action after lengthy spells on the sidelines. Both had previously displayed ability and both trialled up adequately enough leading up to this.

Selections (1) P.K. Gunju (7) Hwaryong (8) Homecoming (5) King Of Sunday

Race 6: Class 5 (1700M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

(3) REIGN was an also ran in the Korean Oaks before finishing 4th in the Gyeonggi Governor's Cup in June. She only managed 3rd when sent off the odds-on favourite on her return to shallower waters a month ago but really should be returning to the winner's circle today. (12) WINNER MOUNTAIN is up in class having registered his maiden victory n his first try at this distance on July 28th. He made all that day and while this is stiffer, he should be very competitive. (4) CHANGSEONG GANGJA demonstrated a sharp uptick in form when beating Reign, among others, at class and distance last time. The form will probably be reversed today but he'll start much shorter than the 80/1 he did that day. (7) HAMYANG SANSAM was a good 3rd on her first try at two-turns last month and can build on it today. (1) BLACK GINGA the best of the rest.

Selections (3) Reign (12) Winner Mountain (7) Hamyang Sansam (1) Black Ginga
Next Best 4, 8, 10
Fast Start 2, 9, 12

Race 7: Class 4 (1000M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(2) RAON STORM has never finished any worse than 3rd in five outings to date. He's a fast starter and should make all on his way to what would be his third career win today. He'll take some beating. (5) BIG THUNDER weakened in the closing stages of a tougher race than this last start but should be better today after a good six weeks off while (6) SPEED BELLE drops back to the distance at which both his wins to date have been at and he should be in contention too. (1) GOBAL CHEONHA is another who may appreciate the opportunity to compete at the minimum trip today while (8) FIRENZE HILL, who led until the closing stages over 1200M last start, is also in the placing frame.

Selections (2) Raon Storm (5) Big Thunder (1) Global Cheonha (6) Speed Belle
Next Best 8, 9
Fast Start 2, 6, 8

Race 8: Class 4 (1300M) Allowance / KRW 75 Million

Imported maidens here with six of the twelve having raced before. Five of those six raced each other over 1000M on July 27th and it was (7) MOVIECUS who came out on top, finishing 2nd after a front-running performance. The additional distance should only benefit, and he'll be hot favourite to win this. (11) BRIGADIER GENERAL was 3rd in that race – his second consecutive 3rd – and he looks best placed to challenge the favourite although (2) MIGHTY SOO, who ran 7th in that race on debut may improve. (12) EUNEO CHUKJE is the only experienced one not to have taken part in the July 27th event. Instead he debuted two weeks ago doing nothing wrong on his way to 6th place over 1000M. The extra trip may suit. Of the first-timer starters, Gemologist colt (9) DYNAMIC COMING looked best in trials.

Selections (7) Moviecus (11) Brigadier General (12) Euneo Chukje (9) Dynamic Coming
Next Best 2, 6
Fast Start 7, 8, 9, 10

Race 9: Class 4 (1200M) Allowance / KRW 60 Million

Competitive race this with a number in with a chance. (2) SOULY MAJESTIC beat a couple of these on her way to a good 3rd at class and distance on July 28th. She's won at this level in the past and could repeat. (1) RAON PATRICK tackles this class for the first time today having secured a good win at this distance at the end of July. She made all that day and from the inside gate will be looking to repeat here. It's a similar story with (3) CHAMP K, who is up in class having won two of his latest three, both at 1300M. He perhaps has a bit more to find but shouldn't be far away. (10) THE SPIKER has proven capable of winning money at this level and can aim for the places while (7) MOONHAK SERVE races for just the second time and should improve on the 6th he scored on debut.

Selections (1) Raon Patrick (2) Souly Majestic (3) Champ K (7) Moonhak Serve
Next Best 10, 9
Fast Start 1, 2, 3, 9

Race 10: Class 3 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

Since debut, (1) RAON SERENA has never finished any worse than 4th and comes in having finished 3rd at class and distance on a sloppy track on July 28th. She was favourite that day, but she managed to beat three of these and will surely take a lot of beating here. Of the ones behind Raon Serena in that race, (9) SOMETHING MYSTERY perhaps has the best chance of getting close but bigger threats will come from elsewhere. (4) TIAGO TOUCH ran a good 2nd over this distance in July and while up in class here, should be competitive. (6) GARA GARA GA and (7) GEOSEN MAPUNG look best of the rest.

Selections (1) Raon Serena (4) Tiago Touch (9) Something Mystery (6) Gara Gara Ga
Next Best 7, 8
Fast Start 1, 4, 7

Race 11: Class 3 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

Back in May, (4) WONDERFUL FLY made all to win the Korean Derby by a mammoth margin. He scarcely figured at all in the Minister's Cup a month later though and hasn't been seen since. He makes his return here, back down in trip and it's a race he really should be winning in dismissive fashion. (5) GIDONG DAEJANG, 3rd over 1700M last start probably has the best chance of getting close to the favourite although he will need to improve if he is to pose a serious challenge. (2) MONEY DAERYUK and (3) BIG EAR are both better than their respective latest starts suggest and can compete for the places here.

Selections (4) Wonderful Fly (5) Gidong Daejang (2) Money Daeryuk (3) Big Ear
Next Best 6, 1
Fast Start 3, 4

Race 12: Class 2 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 90 Million

(9) CHOEGANG STAR comes in looking for a fifth consecutive victory and while he is up in class once more today, he's done everything that's been asked him extremely well of late and another victory is possible. (7) PHOENIX SUN's latest two have been in the SBS Sports Sprint at 1200M and the Ilgan Sports at 1800M. Both were stiff but back in more amenable company today, he should improve significantly and is likely to be the main danger. (3) YAHO SMART CAT was a very good class and distance winner back in May and comes in off two-month rest after a 4th place in another fast affair at this trip in June. (2) THANK YOU CHARLIE and (6) GRAY SOCKS are others to take into consideration.

Selections (9) Choegang Star (7) Phoenix Sun (3) Yaho Smart Cat (2) Thank You Charlie
