Race 1: Class 6 (1000M) Allowance / KRW 25 Million

Picture: Korea Racing Authority

A maiden to kick things off with only two of the twelve having raced more than once. Both will be contenders here as both showed improvement on their respective second appearances. (5) CLAY WINNER ran 2nd on his second appearance at the end of November, well beaten by a very good winner but nonetheless showing he has plenty of ability himself. The Hansen colt is not a natural front-runner but can find a handy position here and finish sternly. (1) RAON BLOOD was a touch more impressive when 3rd on her second start just before Christmas. She will be expected to lead here and is the slight pick to hold on all the way. (4) SONGAM TIZ did absolutely nothing on debut back last September. He was put away after that and looked a completely different horse when returning to win a trial just last week. He made all and assuming he didn't leave his race back in that trial, he's well drawn to be on speed here and he can have serious claims. (9) MISS ELITE and (12) GWANGYA SIDAE are others who should be going close.

Selections: (1) Raon Blood (4) Songam Tiz (5) Clay Winner (12) Gwangya Sidae

Next Best: 9, 11

Fast Start: 1, 4, 11

Race 2: Class 6 (1000M) Allowance / KRW 40 Million

A field of twelve maiden fillies will line up over the short course in the second. (8) HANSEN CHOICE lines up for her third career start coming off some promising performances. At her first start she lined up in a strong two-year-old event, when settling in the leading division and finishing second. She was slightly disappointing at her second start when finishing fourth, she lost considerable ground when taking the turn for home before running on strong once again. (6) CUPID BISANG is considered a winning chance. The Thunder Moccasin filly finished second to K Top King on debut in a two-year-old event, who has since gone on and saluted again. (2) SHINE FIGHTER lines up for her third start coming off some solid performances. The Rock Hard Ten filly has sat on speed in her runs to date and is drawn well to do so once again. (4) BIG RIVER didn't appear ready for the 1300m at her second start but handed in a good performance on debut when third over the 1000m.

Selections (8) Hansen Choice (6) Cupid Bisang (2) Shine Fighter (4) Big River

Race 3: Class 6 (1300M) Allowance / KRW 25 Million

A weak maiden gives a chance to a number who otherwise wouldn't look likely to get a win. (9) GOLD FIELD is one of those. She's been hovering on the verge of a place in recent starts, all of which have been in stronger company than this. She is a front-runner and taking the initiative here may be enough to see her home on top today. (8) FLYING THOR and (10) DONGJJOK GLORY will be two others who challenge for the early lead. Both have hinted at ability across their four starts apiece and both have top jockeys engaged today. (12) THE BEAST has a great name and began his career promisingly enough with back to back 4th place finishes. His latest two at this distance haven't been great but again, they have been in better races than this and he should improve. (2) A.P. PATEK went back to trial after his last start five weeks ago. He looked much better in his heat and is another who can show more today.

Selections: (9) Gold Field (2) A.P. Patek (12) The Beast (10) Dongjjok Glory

Next Best: 8, 7

Fast Start: 8, 9, 10, 11

Race 4: Class 6 (1300M) Allowance / KRW 25 Million

There appears a lack of speed in the fourth event on the card where a field of twelve will line up over the 1300m. (6) SAENAE CHOICE comes out of a set weights two-year-old event where she ran second to Big Plan. Whilst she found one better on the day, she stretched out nicely holding off the remainder of the field. This looks a winnable assignment, with limited speed drawn on the inside off her this will allow Antonio Da Silva to roll forward on the Simon Pure filly. (3) BIANCA has finished in the money at her past few starts and is capable of a forward showing in this event. The Hansen filly is likely to sit just off the speed with a better draw. She was forced to spend too much petrol early on last start. (12) GOSOK PEDAL can improve on his most recent effort. The colt worked forward last start before being run down in the straight. Kim Yong-Geun jumps aboard for the first time, expect a positive ride from an awkward draw. (1) COMPLETE MOTION looks best of the rest and may add some value to your exotics.

Selections (6) Saenae Choice (3) Bianca (12) Gosok Pedal (1) Complete Motion

Next Best 2, 11

Fast Start 3, 6, 12

Race 5: Class 5 (1000M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

Wide open handicap here and while (9) MONEY CHAMP remains a maiden, he's been promoted to this class on the back of consecutive runner-up finishes behind good horses. The times he has run in those defeats are likely to be more than competitive at this level and he could well be the one to beat. (1) WONDERFUL HENNESSY comes in fresh here for her first start since September. She's proven herself a threat at this level with two 3rd place finishes and from the inside gate is likely to be on pace from the start with solid claims to go all the way. (4) WIN BLADE was 5th last start in a better race than this and should go close again while (5) GIVEN RUNNER too has been competing in stiffer company of late and is capable of running the kind of time necessary to win here. (11) CHEONEUN JJANG rounds out the most credible contenders. She led last time over 1300M, weakening late on, and may appreciate the drop back in trip today.

Selections: (9) Money Champ (1) Wonderful Hennessy (4) Win Blade (11) Cheoneun Jjang

Next Best: 5, 2

Fast Start: 1, 3, 4, 11

Race 6: Class 5 (1300M) Allowance / KRW 40 Million

There appears plenty of early speed engaged in the sixth on the card. (8) GEUMSUNI STAR has been ultra-consistent of late filling a top four position at his past four starts. He drops back to the 1300m for the first time in August. His record over the 1300m has been good in the past. Lee Hyeon-Jong is promising rider who is likely to urge his mount forward in the early stages. (6) TIZ ROSE is one of those early speedsters who looks to map on speed. She has ran promising races at her past two starts finishing third on both occasions behind some progressive types. With the departure of Masa Tanaka Park Byeong-Yun picks up the ride. (2) CHEONHA YEOJE finished second behind East Jet two starts back and can bounce back after a disappointing performance last start. (1) GLORY VERN showed improvement last time out when finishing second in a time considered good for this grade. Johan Victoire is likely to kick up and use gate one to his advantage.

Selections (8) Geumsuni Star (6) Tiz Rose (2) Cheonha Yeoje (1) Glory Vern

Next Best 3, 4

Race 7: Class 6 (1700M) Allowance / KRW 25 Million

(6) COLORS DE LAGO seemed to really appreciate the step up to this distance last start when running a career-best 2nd. It was a slow time and the competition was distinctly average but then so is today's and he won't need to improve on that run too much to win here. (9) ACE SHINE has also done his best work at 1700M, beaten a nose on his first attempt at it in October before running 3rd a couple of weeks later. He's now with trainer Tony Castanheira, who saddles his first Korean winner last week, and there is a chance of another here. (10) HONAM DAERO comes in following back to back 3rd place finishes, both at the distance and while he is one-paced, that may be enough to stay on for some more prize money here. (2) IRON HEART was 5th behind Colors De Lago last start and should be aiming to at least match that today while (4) GOLD BRIDGE is another who can go close.

Selections: (6) Colors De Lago (9) Ace Shine (10) Honam Daero (2) Iron Heart

Next Best: 4, 1

Fast Start: 1, 3, 9, 11

Race 8: Class 5 (1700M) Allowance / KRW 40 Million

A field of twelve will line up over the two turns in the eighth on the card. (2) NEW MOON WARRIOR looks a nice type ready to fly through the easier grades. The Peace Rules gelding blitzed a Class 6 field last start when running an impressive time for the 1300m. Connections have elected to step him up to the 1700m at just his third start. He looks an exciting type to follow, expect him to bounce out of the gates and take up the running, proving hard to run down. (1) CITY SONGAM has backed up his maiden win three starts back with some promising efforts in this grade. Alan Munro will jump aboard the four-year-old who is best suited by sitting on speed. (9) SOUTHERN MAN broke through in a relatively weak field last start. The chestnut is another that likes to work forward in his races. (5) CHOGANGGUK finished midfield last start after breaking maiden status the start before. She looks one that will appreciate the step up in distance as she hit the line in good fashion last start.

Selections (2) New Moon Warrior (1) City Songam (9) Southern Man (5) Chogangguk

Next Best 5, 10

Fast Start 1, 2, 9

Race 9: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

Two debut-makers among the twelve imports here and one of them looks quite tasty. (9) MIGHTY BOOM put in an extremely accomplished trial in mid-December, leading all the way to cross the line in a time that would win most five-furlong races here. Tony Castanheira's Adios Charlie filly will be aiming to lead again today and if she can get to front, it could well be a winning debut. (10) GLOBAL PARTY is the only horse in the race to have winning experience. He was extremely impressive when doing so too, scoring by three-lengths in a very fast time back in November. He was duly sent off favourite for his first crack at this class and distance on December 7th but lost ground at the start, raced ungenerously and was later found slightly lame. Despite all that, he still finished 6th of 12 and fully fit he should be a different prospect today. (12) IRON SOCKS finished ahead of Global Party that day in what was an improved performance and he can continue to make progress here. (2) FINAL CANGINO and (6) BAEDARI PRINCE are others in the hunt.

Selections: (9) Mighty Boom (10) Global Party (2) Final Cangino (12) Iron Socks

Next Best: 6, 4

Fast Start: 2, 9, 10, 11

Race 10: Class 4 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

There are some progressive types engaged in the tenth on the card. On paper the race looks to have two chances in the form of Dynamic Punch and White Queen who are both promising. (8) DYNAMIC PUNCH ended up being the on top selection based on his comfortable victory last time out and a slightly better draw. There is limited early speed engaged in the inner draws suggesting Alan Munro should be able to work forward and possibly find the rail. He has won his past three, all in good time and looks hard to beat. There is a lot to like about the danger in (10) WHITE QUEEN. She was forced to work early last start and sat between runners in a race full of pressure last start. She hit the lead at the top of the straight and ran through the line gamely to finish second with Mighty Luck passing her in the dying stages. She gets a 2kg advantage on Dynamic Punch. (5) FIRENZE HILL finished third behind Dynamic Punch last start and can run into the money with a lightweight on his back. (2) HANEULUI STAR produced a better run last time out when fifth behind Geum Royal. Whilst he has not shown his best in some time he looks one that can place with a good draw.

Selections (8) Dynamic Punch (10) White Queen (5) Firenze Hill (2) Haneului Star

Next Best 3, 9

Fast Start 5, 8, 10

Race 11: Class 4 (1300M) Allowance / KRW 60 Million

(5) BLADE STORM is up in class after an all the way victory over this distance on November 30th. That makes it two wins from his latest four and the Kantharos gelding looks to have more in the tank. This is a stern test so he will need to get better, but he has every chance of winning again. (3) BROWN ROSE may well start as favourite. She ran 2nd in a fast time over this distance on December 1st, defying her lengthy odds. From gate 3, she's well-positioned to get on pace from the start and could go all the way. (8) GEOSEN JILJU has won her latest two to be rapidly promoted through two classes. She finds herself in deeper waters today, but she has been consistently fast and there is little to suggest that she can't be competitive at this level. She too will want to be on the early pace as will the last of the main contenders, (10) YEONHUI ILCHUL. She too won consecutive races to get promoted to this level and finished a respectable 4th on her first try at it four weeks ago. All that means there should be plenty of speed to run at and if you fancy that lot to go too quickly, (9) CHAMP K could be one to come through late.

Selections: (5) Blade Storm (3) Brown Rose (8) Geosen Jilju (10) Yeonhui Ilchul

Next Best: 9, 1

Fast Start: 3, 5, 8, 10

Race 12: Class 3 (1800M) Allowance / KRW 75 Million

The twelfth on the card looks an open event with several runners having chances. (12) BRANDON was 2nd last start when resuming. The lightly raced six-year-old was having his first run in five months and managed to finish second behind Kings step. He has been dealt a wide draw for his assignment but with his first-up run under his belt he looks a big chance. (2) GOLD HAMMER is the top weight engaged; he has previously won in this class. The entire finished second last start behind Saba Kingdom in a race where they crawled and hence not suiting his racing style. He was game to finish in the placings. (1) MAGICAL CHOICE is one of the more lightly raced gallopers engaged. He finished a respectable fourth last start over the 1600m when having his first run since February last year. He did settle well back on that occasion so barrier one is not necessarily an advantage for his racing pattern. (7) MR. TURNER comes out of the same race as Brandon where he finished third. He hasn't saluted since March last year but is more than capable of collecting some prizemoney is this event.

Selections (12) Brandon (2) Gold Hammer (1) Magical Choice (7) Mr. Turner

Next Best 9, 3

Fast Start 3, 5

Race 13: Class 2 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 90 Million

The last on the card is a competitive class 2 sprint handicap. (2) HEUNG BARAM is the slight pick, coming in as he does, having run 2nd and 3rd in his latest two, both at class and distance. The latest of those was a fast race won by a good winner and if he can replicate that performance, he can come out on top today. (7) TOUR ROSE also comes in with recent form reading very nicely. She drops back in trip slightly after two very credible efforts around 1400M and should be in contention here. We'll draw a line through (3) TAP FASHIONED's latest showing when he was drawn out wide and if we do that, we'll find he is capable of competing in this company. He will need to improve but if he can find himself a nice spot, he can challenge late on. (11) DAEBAK HAENGJIN finally broke through at the eleventh time of asking six weeks ago. She's up in class so a repeat is a big ask but she ran the kind of time that should be more than competitive here. (12) CRAZY FACTOR ran 3rd on his first go at this level last start and while the draw does him no favours today, he is another one to be considered.

Selections: (2) Heung Baram (7) Tour Rose (11) Daebak Haengjin (3) Tap Fashioned

Next Best: 12, 1
