Soliloquy next step for Aris Aris

In-form rider Craig Grylls will partner promising filly Aris Aris for Stephen Autridge and Kris Shailer in the Gr.3 Matamata Veterinary Services Soliloquy Stakes (1400m) at Matamata on Saturday as she builds towards the Gr.1 Barneswood Farm New Zealand 1000 Guineas (1600m).

The daughter of Contributer has had just the two starts for a good win at Taupo over 1100m before finishing runner-up over 1200m to the highly-touted Pareanui Bay at Te Rapa last start.

"That form from Te Rapa seems to be stacking up pretty well. She is a really nice filly although she is nothing to look at, she is only a wee little thing," Grylls said.

"She wouldn't win a beauty pageant but she has got a big ticker and she really wants to do it.

"I have ridden her in her work and it has been really good. She will give a good account of herself on Saturday.

"She is on a path towards the 1000 Guineas, as most of the fillies in the race are. Once she gets to a mile it will be right up her alley. She switches off beautifully in the run and just does everything you want her to do."

Mav gets Cox Plate green light

Triple Group One winner Callsign Mav has been cleared by Racing Victoria vets to contest Saturday's Gr.1 Cox Plate (2040m)

The John Bary-trained galloper had to undergo a last-minute inspection on Friday morning after showing signs of lameness in his left front leg on Thursday, and was passed fit to run.

The stable removed the horse's near front shoe overnight, treated the foot and replaced the shoe today (Friday) with the lameness now resolved.

The news wasn't so good for French import Gold Trip, who has been ruled out of the Cox Plate after showing signs of lameness in his off fore and off hind leg on Thursday.

A panel of four Racing Victoria veterinarians re-inspected Gold Trip at the Werribee International Horse Centre and determined that the horse is not suitable to contest the race.

The veterinary panel noted that the horse presented with the same level of lameness in its off hind limb as on Thursday, but that the level of lameness in its off fore limb had increased over the past 24 hours.

A total of six veterinarians have examined Gold Trip over the past two days for Racing Victoria and have been unanimous in their decision that the lameness displayed by the horse was not at an acceptable level to pass a pre-race veterinary inspection.

House Of Cartier to Feilding

Group Three winning mare House Of Cartier will head to Saturday week's Listed Feilding Gold Cup (2100m) at Awapuni after finishing a game fifth in the Gr.1 Livamol Classic (2040m) last weekend.

The Peter Didham-trained daughter of Alamosa and top mare Shez Sinsational had been due to go to stud this season, however connections will mull it over after House Of Cartier closed in the fastest sectionals of the feature.

"If we had drawn barrier six, instead of eight, we might have got Savy Yong Blonk's run instead of being one space back, but I've got no complaints," Didham said.

"We were only a length and a half away in a Group One and a shower of rain would have helped. We were very proud of the horse.

"We are fifty-fifty as to whether she goes to Savabeel this year. At the moment she is going to run next Saturday in the Feilding Gold Cup, all going well.

"She has pulled up in amazing order and licked the bowl. It was only her second run this preparation and there is still a bit of improvement in her."
