The talented five-year-old joined the stable of Shane Baertshiger earlier this year after a highly-successful domestic career from Nigel Tiley’s Pukekohe yard.

“I was talking to Shane a couple of days ago and he’s been really happy with the horse,” said Russell Warwick, who manages the thoroughbred interests of the gelding’s part-owner Eric Watson.

“He’s about three weeks away from his first trial up there. He’s been getting through his work well and, outwardly, he has acclimatised well.

“There’s no rush with him as their feature races don’t come around until July and August. At this stage he is on target.”

Albany Reunion won last year’s Gr.1 Easter Handicap at Ellerslie and made his final New Zealand appearance at Riccarton in November when he finished a brave fifth from the outside gate in the Gr.2 Coupland’s Bakeries Mile.

He has a career record of five wins from 12 starts and he also has placings in the Gr.1 Telegraph Handicap, the Gr.3 Mr Tiz Trophy and the Listed Newmarket Handicap to his credit.
