Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for August 25.
Muswelbrook: Race 5 @ 3.35pm
Miss Eporetto and Steamboat Sally from opposite sides of the draw will press for the early lead. STEAMBOAT SALLY (1) has not raced since finishing near the tail of the field for Team Snowden over 1400m at Kembla two months ago. Now with Cody Morgan and looked good in a recent trial. Ready to win back in this company, with Ryan aboard a positive lead. STAMPEDE WARRIOR (4) broke his maiden status last start over 1200m at Coonamble, destroying his rivals by 5.5 lengths. Whole new ball game today but is lightly raced and progressive. MISS EPORETTO (3) went close first up over this course and distance then missed a place at Taree recently when she looked to have every chance. Usually a reliable mare so put it down to second-up syndrome. LITTLE NIKKAS (2) strips fitter and is down in class so cannot be ruled out. SELECTION: Keen on #1 Steamboat Sally first up for the new stable.

Sunshine Coast: Race 1 @ 11.50pm
No early pace on paper. WHITTERICK (6) improved sharply last start when lining up for just the second time, overcoming a wide run to storm home late and just miss out over 1400m at this track. Suited by the longer trip and small field so looks perfectly placed to go one better for the in-form Tony Sears yard. SWING SHIFT (4) placed three in a row over the Toowoomba mile then went to Doomben last time and couldn't quite match his rivals in the closing stages after a torrid run. Finds an easier maiden today and with the claim looks very well placed. LUNCH SESSION (3) worked home well without threatening to clock-in 5th over 1400m at the Gold Coast recently. Can improve sharply today with the blinkers on over a little more ground. WHITE COLLAR (5) is bred to appreciate this trip on debut. Won a recent trial so is ready to run well. SELECTION: #6 Whitterick profiles perfectly so back him to win the first.
Bordertown: Race 1 @ 12:50pm
Sassy raider can lead in a race without much obvious early pace. GOZZO (2) will be at top now third-up and his form reads well for this. Finally gets a low gate and Tourneur sticks. IRONIC SMILE (6) did enough on debut at the provincials to suggest this is winnable. Keeps the 4kg claim and in good hands. SASSY RAIDER (5) was much better at Balaklava second-up and can improve off that. SELECTION: This program gets tough later on so going early with #2 Gozzo who rates well.
Nowra: Race 3 @ 1:55pm
Quissent will be quick into stride from the deep. YOU AND YOU ALONE (1) has been given plenty of time by Joe Pride. Debut effort when runner-up to Spiritual Pursuit was superb. That's terrific form for a country maiden. Three trials in readiness when not asked for much have been solid. Respect the market but she appears screwed down to run well. TWICE AS SPECIAL (12) will be improved by her debut at Kembla Grange. Jumped favourite on that occasion and wanted to do a bit wrong. Down in grade and drawn for a nice run. GALAXIAL (5) wasn't beaten far despite finishing last at her first start. Nicely bred and it wouldn't shock if she figures in the finish. You And You Alone for the win. SELECTION: #1 You And You Alone for the win.
Kalgoorlie: Race 5 @ 6:00pm (AEDT)
Watto's Fury can lead and may not get too much pressure. WATTO'S FURY (4) missed a lip twice before winning at this level. Keeps improving and doubt the weight lift will stop him going on. SCREAM IN BLUE (3) is a last start Maiden winner for the leading local yard. He gets the chance to go on. NICKLAUS (1) will race handy and was beaten a half length 7-days ago behind Watto's Fury. Has to be given a good chance. RECAPITULATE (9) is also knocking on the door but has to handle the shorter journey. SELECTION: #4 Watto's Fury can prove too good again.
