Sheezallmine thriving

Matamata trainer Daniel Miller has a small team of horses campaigning in the south island, including lightly-tried four-year-old Sheezallmine, the winner of four of her six starts.

A last start winner at Riccarton, Sheezallmine will contest the Coupland's Bakeries Mile Trial (1400m) back at the same course.

"I'm really happy with how she came through her fresh-up run," Miller said.

"She's eating really well and her work has been superb. She is back to carrying a lighter weight up against a really nice field on Saturday, but I think she will run really well."

Sheezallmine will carry 54 kilos in the open handicap and will be ridden by Samantha Wynne.

Miller's parents, John and Maree, bought the filly for just $1000 from gavelhouse.com.

Vale Campbell Moncur

Well-respected racing administrator Campbell Moncur died peacefully this morning after a lengthy battle with illness.

Moncur had, since a cancer diagnosis 15 years ago, managed his health and family time while maintaining a tireless work ethic.

Moncur's career in racing dates back to the 1970's when he was part of the team that developed and turned the key on the Jetbet tote system. 

His responsibilities grew over the years in a variety of roles through his years at the TAB, then with NZTR where he led the team as a General Manager or Acting-CEO. 

He also had periods of employment as CEO for Ticketek and for the TRAC group of racing clubs.

Moncur is survived by wife Mary, their children and grandchildren.

Rodd to reunite with Debt at the Valley

Jockey Michael Rodd is looking forwarding to reuniting with a former Singapore star Debt Collector, now known as Debt Agent in Australia, when he tackles the Gr.2 Schweppes Crystal Mile (1600m) at Moonee Valley

The New Zealand bred son of Thorn Park was the 2016 Singapore Horse of the Year when trained by Cliff Brown, and Rodd has partnered the now seven-year-old to 11 of his 12 wins.

Now in the care of Mornington trainer Jim Conlan, a close friend of Brown's, Debt Agent finished eighth when resuming in a Listed race earlier in the month. 

"It would be like I haven't seen a friend who has moved to another country, and I'm excited to see how he has settled in and where he is at," Rodd said.

"He is so special to me. He's the horse I've won the most races with, one ahead of Atlantic Jewel (10 wins).

Rodd watched Debt Agent's fresh-up performance on TV and thought it was a commendable performance.

"There was plenty of merit to the run. He was fresh, and still ran the fastest sectionals in the last 600m," he said.

"I'm not surprised he's come back to his best. He is lucky to be at Pinecliff, where Jim trains, which is an amazing training facility.

"The blinkers will come off as he was too keen last time and we're going back to basics with him. He will flop out the back and sprint home."
