Beauty Generation gearing up for Hong Kong Mile three-peat
Hong Kong champion Beauty Generation will attempt to get his winning record back on track in Sunday's Gr.2 Jockey Club Mile (1600m).
The son of Road to Rock had strung together 10 consecutive wins before succumbing to a heavy weight last start when finishing third in the Gr.2 Sha Tin Trophy (1600m).
"We're going into the race with very high hopes that he'll be winning, especially given the fact that he won't be carrying a massive weight this time, he'll only be giving them five pounds," trainer John Moore said.
Beauty Generation pleased connections in a gallop on Thursday morning and will jump from gate one on Sunday in a seven-horse field with Zac Purton aboard.
"The way he just worked, we were really pleased with that gallop. The feedback from his work rider, he was very positive and said the horse was very full of himself," Moore said.
"Ka Ying Star will probably take us on again and go to the front so I had hoped we'd draw wider and just drift across outside him, but from gate one Zac will have to see what happens from the gate and ride accordingly."
Sunday's test will be the final lead-up race to next month's Gr.1 LONGINES Hong Kong Mile (1600m), a race Beauty Generation has won for the last two years.
