SA options for Tralee Rose

Warrnambool trainer Symon Wilde is weighing up his options with New Zealand-bred mare Tralee Rose .

The daughter of Tavistock won the Listed Bagot Handicap (2800m) at Flemington in commanding fashion on New Year's Day and now her trainer is eyeing some further stakes targets with her, although border restrictions may hamper his original plans.

Wilde is eyeing a tilt at the Gr.3 Lord Reims Stakes (2600m) at Morphettville on Saturday ahead of the Gr.2 Adelaide Cup (3200m) next month.

With Victoria currently under lockdown, Wilde said he will wait until later in the week before making concrete plans.

He said he does have the alternative option of contesting the Listed Mornington Cup Prelude (2000m) at Caulfield on Saturday, or the Roy Higgins (2600m) at Flemington a week later.

"She's very well," Wilde said.

"She's been nominated (for the Lord Reims Stakes) and we're just trying to work out plans around getting her over there if we can.

"I know the weather looks like it's going to be quite hot as well so we've got a few things to weigh up.

"In an ideal world, we'd love to go to the Lord Reims, bring her home and, if she ran well enough in the Lord Reims, head to the Adelaide Cup two weeks later."

Tralee Rose was purchased out of Cambridge Stud's 2018 New Zealand Bloodstock Book 1 Yearling Sale draft for $50,000 by her trainer in partnership with Cameron Cooke Bloodstock.
