Sydney assignment for Entriviere

Quality four-year-old mare Entriviere will be given her chance to shine across the Tasman after a dominant victory in Sunday's Gr.3 King's Plate (1200m) at Ellerslie.

Trainer Jamie Richards is keen to target the Gr.2 Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on the second day of The Championships with the daughter of Tavistock, who is putting together an impressive record.

"That would be a nice race for her. It is set weights and penalties for fillies and mares. She has got a wicked turn of foot and she does seem to handle a bit of cut in the ground," Richards told Racing HQ.

"We believe she is a Group One horse in the making and we would like to give her the opportunity to show herself off.

"I just love the way she pins the ears back and tries 100 percent. You can't train that. It is either with them or it's not and she is doing a super job. She has won five of her six starts and probably with a little bit of luck would be undefeated.

"She is going really well and we think she is a high-class mare."

Kiwis looking to claim Phar Lap

Kiwi import Impecunious is set to take her place in Saturday's Gr.2 Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) for trainers Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young at Rosehill on Saturday.

The daughter of Sacred Falls was galloped on when a luckless fourth in the Gr.2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on February 20 and will appreciate three weeks between runs.

"She is excellent. We are not going to take any chances with her, but she is 100 percent good to go," Busuttin said.

"She worked up with Rich Hips this morning and was terrific, so we are on track for Saturday."

Impecunious began her career with Michael and Matthew Pitman and was a dominant winner at Riccarton in June last year.

That win was in heavy conditions and the ability to cope with rain-affected conditions is likely to come into play on Saturday, with substantial rain forecast later in the week in Sydney.

New Zealand owner Chris Griffin retains an interest in Impecunious, who races in the colours of prominent Australian owner Ozzie Kheir.

Impecunious isn't the only former Kiwi entered for the three-year-old feature, with Only Words, formerly with Clint Isdale, set for her second start for Chris Waller, while The Irishman, formerly trained by Tony Pike, will have his second start for Mark Newnham after a winning Australian debut last week at Warwick Farm.
