Heliosphere Too Hot To Handle

3 minute read

The Lee Freedman trained Heliosphere creates plenty of interest in his Singapore debut when due to contest the final event this evening.

Formerly trained by Gerald Ryan, Heliosphere displayed above average ability, despite only notching up the sole victory from five attempts.

Placing on a further three occasions, he boasts some strong collateral form, narrowly beaten at his last two starts at Rosehill.

Off the scene for close to a year (358 days), he has been given two trials in the lead up, winning both in impressive fashion.

Rated 61, the handicapper has given him every chance and Heliosphere appears destined for bigger and better in Singapore.

It's always a question mark whether these imports will fire, however judging by his trials, he looks to have acclimatised well to his new surroundings.

That being the case, he is extremely well placed in this Class 4 event.

When formerly based in Australia he had the habit of being slow away, however in two trials he has jumped with them and Freedman appears to have ironed out that chink.

The in-form Craig Grylls legs aboard and notably possesses a great record when combined with the Freedman stable.

From 72 rides, Grylls is striking at 21% and has a placed strike rate of 42% – a combination well worth following.

In time he is expected to be better over further, however he is more than capable of sprinting well fresh.

The wide draw should see him settle back in the field, however with even luck in the straight, he should prove very hard to hold out.

The Desmond Koh trained Reach For The Sun won well at this C&D last start and while this is harder, he still has to be respected.

Marked up to his peak, he looks to get a good run from the draw and is sure to give them all something to run down.

The Cliff Brown trained Copacabana also won well at this C&D last start and with Rodd sticking aboard, he obviously has to be included.

A winner of two of his 18 starts, he has placed on a further four occasions and is clearly back in good form.

Another drawn well, he is expected to make his presence felt.

Of the rest the James Peters trained Dreamweaver appears the next in line.

Good luck and happy punting.
