RACE 1

ROUGHEAD (3) – Looks ready to win here in Class 5 grade following two good runs. Would prefer him over maybe a touch further than the 1100m but he can still get away with this. Top pick.

EVIL WESLEY (1) – Poor beginner but did trial well recently suggesting he can improve here. Looks well placed back to Class 5. Danger.

CLARTON STAR (7) – Was wide without cover last time and even though they went at a slow pace in that race the three-year-old still did a good job to stick on for fourth place beaten 2.1 lengths.

LUCKY BOY (10) – Got back in that same race as Clarton Star last time and couldn’t possibly win the way the race unfolded. Did, however, make some nice late ground and could run a cheeky race here at long odds.

RACE 2

ACROBAT (1) – Only narrowly beaten last start in similar circumstances. Well drawn to take up a handy spot and will be strong over the 1400m. Expect bold showing.

SOTHISTHEONE (2) – Yet to break through but brings respectable credentials to this affair. Awkwardly drawn but is capable of contesting the business end with even luck.

STAY THE COURSE (11) – Showed good improvement last start and his antics at the barriers are advancing in the right direction. Well drawn to take a more forward role. So must be considered.

THE ICEMAN (12) – Performed fairly well on debut over the 1200m. Must be respected stepping up in trip with Vlad Duric retaining the ride. In the mix with the right breaks from the wide draw.

RACE 3

MAI DARKO (6) – Is a 17-start maiden but with the very light weight here he should be able to roll across, find the lead and prove hard to run down. Top pick in an open race.

CORSA D’ORO (1) – Was good last time and will appreciate a bit further here. Not a big horse and does have the 59kgs to carry which would have to be some concern.

SACRED TONIC (5) – Gets a nice run here and should be in the finish.

ACCUMULATION (4) – Was no match last time but coming back to 1400m here looks fine and should be finishing off well, has claims.

RACE 4

LEO (9) – Has only had the benefit of the one trial leading into this debut effort. Was scratched when accepting last week but recent trackwork indicates he is primed for this affair. Will take beating.

COLOUR PAINT (6) – Performed only fairly last start but is capable of bouncing back stepping back to the 1000m on the Polytrack. Vlad Duric rides from a good draw so must be respected.

RUN THE DAY (2) – Showed improvement last start and is bound to strip fitter third-up from an extended break. Well drawn to perform and will appreciate the in-form Noh Senari to take the mount.

LIM’S MOMENT (10) – On debut. Has trialled fairly leading into this affair but performed well in three Australian trials. Mustn’t be ignored. So monitor market/parade.

RACE 5

MILLION ROUND (11) – Proven Class 5 performer and this looks a perfect race for him. Drawn nicely, up to 1400m and is ready to win. Query is that Saifudin Ismail has ridden him 35 times and never won on the horse. Aside from that, hard to find a negative about him in this.

PRINCE FERDINAND (9) – Ran very well second-up last time in an unsuitable 1000m race. Would have preferred him over 1200m at this next run but he should still prove hard to hold out in this.

SHANGANI (10) – Is a horse that’s been backed a few times in maiden grade and been unable to win. Haven’t seen him since December 2 last year but judging by his recent trial he’s in good form leading into his Class 5 debut. Must be kept safe.

CLARTON PALACE (1) – Comes back in trip from the mile. Might be too one-paced to win this but would expect the horse to perform well again following his last-start placing.

RACE 6

JOMO (1) – A big talent in more ways than one. Slow away last time out before running home strongly behind the useful Elite Power. He is a class act and can atone for that defeat here.

MR HOOPER (13) – Absolutely bolted up last time out in a much weaker race. Now up eight points for that victory but is still lightly-raced and can continue on an upward curve.

SAFEER (3) – Backing up quickly after finishing fourth last week to Boy Wonder. He is holding his form well currently and a return to this trip is a plus.

RED DAWN (5) – Gets the blinkers back on for the first time in 13 runs and has plenty of useful form when he has sported the headgear. Place chance.

RACE 7

LIM’S LIGHTNING (1) – This Group 2 winner is the logical top pick in a race of this nature but has a shocker of a barrier to overcome in 14. If he is able to do so, he is the one to beat with the Pacifiers back on here.

IRONSIDE (7) – Novice winner over the course and distance in November and wasn’t too bad on the Polytrack last time. He is a better horse on the turf and can give the top selection most to think about from a good draw.

YULONG FAST STEED (13) – Now only one point higher than his only win here in Singapore. James Peters has his horses in good form and if there is plenty of early pace, it will suit this fellow well.

SCORPIO (6) – Ran home well last time after a long layoff and would be no great surprise to see him figure here.

RACE 8

BACCARAT (5) – A very good run in defeat last start behind the useful Gold Star and he has some very strong form in New Zealand. Off his current mark of 60, he looks ready to win here at Kranji.

SUN GENERAL (4) – Flashed home last time for fourth place and the fact he is up in distance is a massive plus. Every chance.

LIM’S MIGHTY (2) – This will be a first start in Class 4 company and a close market watch is advised.

DON DE LA VEGA (9) – Has plenty of talent and is now down to a very workable mark of 55.
