Singapore Racing - Weekend Review - 1st and 3rd of March 2019

3 minute read

It was a fairly quiet weekend in Singapore with a few key performances worth highlighting.

The Mark Walker trained Elite Power was the highest rated winner of the weekend, following his fairly dominant display in the seventh event on Sunday.

An impressive winner at this course and distance two back, he returned a Timeform rating of 89, a new career peak and is clearly trending the right way.

Another performance worth highlighting on Sunday was the Cliff Brown trained Centenary Diamond.

Although only fair in two starts to begin this preparation, Centenary Diamond clearly relished the step up to the mile when too strong late under Rodd.

Settled towards the rear, Centenary Diamond was in a bit of traffic coming into the straight, before pulling to the outside to make his run.

Let rip inside the 400m, Centenary Diamond let down strongly and set his sight on the leaders.

Hitting the front inside the 200m, Centenary Diamond had a fight on his hands, but asserted his authority late to score by just under a length.

Only a fairly recent addition to the Cliff Brown stable, formerly trained by A Bin Harmash, Centenary Diamond has now won two of his seven starts in Singapore, including three minor placings.

Rated 95 by Timeform prior to being transferred, Centenary Diamond returned a rating of 72 on Sunday, with sectional analysis suggesting there is more to come.

His closing splits were very impressive and if able to run his race more efficiently, there are certainly more wins in store.

Yet to be seen beyond a mile, however he gives every indication he will appreciate more ground and is a good addition for your blackbook.

On Friday night, stablemate Glasgow also impressed when too strong late in the seventh event.

While disappointing over 1400m the start prior, Glasgow clearly appreciated the step up in trip and also being ridden that touch quieter.

Formerly trained by Darren Weir [Old Name: Mujaadil], Glasgow displayed good ability in six starts and is another import trending the right way.

His third win from 11 starts, Glasgow returned a Timeform rating of 80, just six pounds off his prior best in Australia.

A good indicator that there is more to come and he is another good addition for your blackbook.
