Star sprinter Lim’s Cruiser appears poised to notch up his third straight Group 1 Lion City Cup, when due to line up in the seventh event at Singapore this evening.

Unseen since finishing seventh in the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint [1200m], Lim'S Cruiser  made his return in the Group 3 Rocket Man Sprint and while beaten, he certainly lost no admirers.

Comprising of some Singapore's best sprinters, the Shane Baertschiger trained Bold Thruster came out on top, but all eyes were on Lim's Cruiser.

While unable to gun down the 3YO, Lim's Cruiser proved very game with the big weight and should take plenty of benefit from the hit-out.

Conceding 7kg to his younger rival, Lim's Cruiser was only beaten half a length and looks right on track for this evening’s feature.

Rated 112 by Timeform, he chases his third straight Lion City Cup and with all things being equal, he is clearly the one to beat.

Bold Thruster continues to improve, now rated 104, but still has a fair bit of improvement to make if he is to beat Singapore's current champion sprinter.

Out of the Rocket Man Sprint, Lim’s Cruiser meets both Bold Thruster and Mister Yeoh 5.5kg better off at the weights, while he meets Zac Kasa 7kg better off.

Under the weight-for-age conditions, he clearly has a class edge and when you throw in Zac Purton to ride, he ticks every box.

While he got a long way back in this race last year, don’t expect him to be worse than midfield with decent tempo expected up front.

Have to respect the progressive 3YO in Bold Thruster, but still confident Lim’s Cruiser will have too much in the locker.

Away from the top two, the Shane Baertschiger trained Aramco brings different form and has to be respected.

An impressive winner first up, Aramco has now won eight of 20 attempts in Singapore and certainly looked airborne at the trials.

Has to take another step if he is to beat Lim’s Cruiser, however he definitely deserves his chance.

Of the rest the Cliff Brown trained Mister Yeoh appears the next in line.

Only narrowly beaten in the Rocket Man Sprint first up, he remains open to good improvement and notably started favourite in this race last year.

Not easy for him at WFA but has drawn to get a lovely run and should present as the winner at some stage.
