After enjoying the perfect trail sitting off the speed set by Elusive Emperor (Krisna Thangamani), Beautiful Day put in the big bounds the moment he was peeled out for his run and saw daylight.

At the 250m, Sacred Don (Vlad Duric) was the only opponent who could still worry him as he unleashed a strong turn of speed, but Beautiful Day  ($19) showed no signs of letting up as he held him safely at bay by half-a-length.

Satellite Winner (Daniel Moor) ran third another two and a half lengths away, but is reported to have unfortunately bled after the race. The winning time was 1min 12.08secs for the 1200m on the Polytrack.

“His first-up run was good (closing third to Longhu under Tan’s apprentice jockey Ng Choon Kiat in a similar Class 4 Division 2 race, but over 1100m on May 3),” said Tan who was ringing up his fourth win at Kranji since launching his first runners at the end of February.

“I was expecting him to improve second-up and he didn’t disappoint. Marc rode him well.

“We were quite confident of a good run today. He’s won, we couldn’t ask for more.”

Lerner said he also went into the race fairly bullish about the Battle Paint four-year-old’s chances if his last-start form stacked up well against his 11 rivals.

“He ran very well at his last race and he ran accordingly today,” said the French jockey.

“It’s so easy when everything goes to plan.”

Previously handled by Desmond Koh, Beautiful Day was registering his second win from 12 starts, having broken through for Koh in a Maiden race over 1200m on September 2. With a placing record of one second and four thirds, the prizemoney earned for owner Law Hung Kam has now exceeded the $85,000 mark.
