GOLD COAST (4) – Connections have wasted no time in pitching this three-year-old into Class 5 grade on the back of three fair efforts in Open/Restricted Maidens. He is a very interesting runner judged on his fourth-placed finish to Universal Empire last time.
PAPERBACK TROOPER (3) – Rolled back the years with a win last time under Benny Woodworth and all involved will be hoping it isn't another 34 starts before he can win again! He is in good form and his chance is obvious.
MON ENERGY (2) – Won on debut last December and has been nothing of woeful since that success in six starts since. Now in Class 5 company and that should offer some hope.
RIVER TREASURE (9) – A maiden from six and better last time when fourth behind Paperback Trooper last time out. Include at the backend of the quartet.
COMING UP (3) – This race won't take much winning and with champion jockey Vlad Duric booked, he should prove very hard to beat here.
SAYONARA (5) – Was 1 ½ lengths behind Coming Up last time out and that may well prove the same scenario in this race, but he is improving with every start and is a horse to keep on the right side of.
LIM'S RAY (1) – This Steven Burridge-trained four-year-old was seen to best effect at the finish of a Class 4 over 1100m behind Taro San, the step-up in distance is a plus and should be Top 4 material in this.
GIANT KILLING (2) – Strictly judged on his course and distance performance in May, he makes it into the numbers for this contest.
TOM CAT (12) – First starter for Lee Freedman. Trialled up well enough to be highly competitive in what doesn't look the strongest of races. Can roll forward from barrier No 8 and be hard to beat.
KING'S LANDING (2) – Has been very green at his first two starts. Went back to the trials August 27 and won by nearly six lengths in 59.52. Must be respected following that trial.
KRUGER (3) – Debuts for Shane Baertschiger. Blinkers went on in the second trial and there was improvement shown. Gets the right run from the handy barrier, worth including if fancied in the betting.
RESOLUTION (8) – Drawn 1, placed in recent trial. Should be a better horse now in his second preparation. Consider.
MIGHTY EMPEROR (1) – Has been racing well and finds conditions to suit yet again. Will appreciate the drop in class and the claim from stable apprentice Krisna Thangamani. Expect bold showing.
MATSURIBAYASHI (8) – Bounced back to winning form last start with a strong victory. Has to convert that form to the Polytrack surface but must be considered with a repeat dose.
GOLAZO (5) – Has been struggling to win but career credentials demand respect in this affair. Knockout hope with the right breaks.
DAZZLE GOLD (7) – Looking for three on the bounce. Drawn to get the right run, so must be included yet again despite the rise in class. In the mix.
LIM'S MOMENT (4) – Has shown decent ability at the trials both here and in Australia. He clearly hasn't been an easy horse to train, given the fact he is now a five-year-old and only just making his debut, but he has shown enough to suggest he could win this weak maiden on his first career outing.
RETALLICA (5) – Two no shows so far on turf but has trialled well and the hope would be that he can improve now that he is racing on the Polytrack. Certainly not impossible in a very poor race.
ROMANTIC (1) – Another newcomer, who was third on his only start for Terry Kennedy in New Zealand. He has since been gelded and was asked no questions of in his only local trial a month ago.
CALL ME INVINCIBLE (3) – Nothing out of the ordinary in two trials leading up to this debut but has won a trial in New Zealand and he represents top connections.
KUBERA'S CHIEF (3) – Has bundles of Class 5 form and is a course and distance winner also. Second on the turf last time and this return to the synthetic surface is a plus.
GANGNAM CLASSIC (5) – Two runs over this course and distance since June have been some of his better efforts and is another to appreciate stepping out on the Polytrack.
THOTH WARRIOR (2) – He is beginning to look nicely handicapped on the pick of his form with two of his four wins coming off marks of 42 and 43 respectively. Can put a poor run last time behind him here.
MAKE U FAMOUS (7) – The booking of Michael Rodd certainly catches the eye and the fact he is drawn in barrier No 1 and will race on the pace is also a keen component in his make-up.
WEBSTER (2) – This consistent six-year-old ran a huge race last time when nosed out of it by Aramco on the turf. He has plenty of class and this will be his first start over 1000m with Benny Woodworth on board for the first time and a bold show is expected.
DARC BOUNTY (3) – Has a very good record over this course and distance (119312) and has been readied for this with a recent trial and will certainly give his running under these conditions.
KISS YOUR SONG (11) – Up in grade on the back of last week's good run behind Lim's Dream in a Class 3 race. Connections are happy to back him up again quickly and his trainer is bidding to win his fourth Class 2 Handicap this year from 21 starters.
DINGHU MOUNTAIN (7) – A good solid run last time out when perhaps needing the run slightly. Can strip fitter here and is off his last winning mark (81). Each-way chance.
SUN STEP (3) – It might prove worthwhile to side with this newcomer on local debut. Twice a winner in Australia at Geelong and Werribee over sprint trips, he has trialled well leading up to this and must rank a good chance here.
SIERRA CONQUEROR (1) – Went quick in front last time before weakening in the last 100m to finish third to Lim's Knight. They might try and hold on to him a bit longer here and if so, he can run another good race.
LIM'S PASSION (5) – Finished like a train last time over slightly further, the trip here is a concern for sure but if able to keep tabs on them early, he is a decent chance to run very well again.
COUSTEAU (2) – This five-year-old is now just a point higher than his last win and with the assistance of Vlad Duric in the saddle, he makes plenty of appeal in the last.
