The Cliff Brown trained Flying Tourbillon appears well placed to bounce back at Kranji on Sunday evening.
An impressive maiden winner on debut, Flying Tourbillon was sent out favourite ($2.40) at his next start and while unable to win, his performance held plenty of merit.
Ridden by Ben Thompson he was forced to settle back from the wide draw, before making a good run down the centre, just peaking on his run late.
Beaten a length, he should improve sharply off that and like him kept fresh (62 days).
Leading rider Michael Rodd legs back aboard (rode him to victory on debut) and he looked very good at his most recent trial, cruising to the line to score under a good hold.
From the inside draw he should get a lovely smother, before being produced in the straight.
Always have to respect when Rodd rides for the Brown stable, currently striking at 20%.
When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, he appears well placed on his debut win and being only lightly raced, there looks to be more to come.
Doesn't look an overly strong Class 4 on paper and with even luck, he should prove hard to hold out.
The Shane Baertschiger trained Arnantara is yet to break through in Singapore, but continues to race well and has to be respected fresh (50 days).
Placing in all three starts for Baertschiger, he has put up form good enough to be winning at this level and gets in well after the claim.
He found the line nicely at his most recent trial and he too should get a lovely run from the inside draw.
If Flying Tourbillon does have a chink in his armour, suspect Arnantara will be there to take full advantage.
The Stephen Gray trained St Alwyn is still a maiden, but is rarely far away and has to be respected down in the weights.
Placing in six of seven starts to this point, he does have talent and while drawn a touch awkwardly, he should press forward and be in this for a long way.
Of the rest the consistent Our Showcase appears the next in line.
Good luck and happy punting.
