Singapore racegoers were treated to 14 races on Sunday with a number of performances worth highlighting.
In the fourth event the Michael Clements trained Heartening Flyer began his career in fine fashion, when too strong on speed over 1200m.
Beginning well from the inside draw, Heartening Flyer settled fourth, one off the fence.
Travelling well into the straight, he ambled up to the lead and quickly took over on straightening.
Establishing a good break, he looked to be doing it comfortably, before the Mark Walker trained Brutus loomed ominously.
Levelling up inside the 100m, he appeared in trouble, before kicking back on the inside to hold Brutus on the line.
Really liked the way he fought on when challenged and he looks to have good improvement.
Quite the raw product, that race experience should do him the world of good and the clock also backed up the strength of his performance.
Of the 10 1200m races held, he ran the equal fastest time (R7 - Kiss Your Song - 1:11.84) which was illustrated further through the beaten margins.
He beat third placegetter The Shadow by 4.8L with a further 3.5L back to fourth.
All indicators suggest it is a strong piece of form and the market also gave it a push.
Heartening Flyer was sent out as a $1.90 chance, while Brutus was the $3.20 second elect.
Rated 70+ by Timeform, he remains a big watch at his next outing as we do expect him to improve nicely off that number.
While a bit of a late bloomer, he turns four as of Saturday, he looks to have a good future and is one to place in your blackbook.
Sticking with the Michael Clements stable with Knight Love as while beaten on Sunday, no knock on his effort and he should improve sharply next time out.
An impressive debut winner on the turf track back in February, not sure he was overly suited on the polytrack and is open to good improvement off that.
Also feel he will be better when allowed to lead and dictate, similar to what he did when winning on debut.
Only lightly raced, he is quite the promising type and no knock on the form behind Sweet Angeline, it should work out well.
