Ascot return for Commonwealth Cup hero.
Clive Cox is looking forward to Champions Day with Golden Horde , who will be returning to the scene of his finest hour at Ascot.
Winner of the Commonwealth Cup at the Royal meeting in June, he has subsequently run good races in defeat in the July Cup at Newmarket, the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville and the Haydock Sprint Cup.
Cox feels there could be even more to come from the chestnut and the Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes could see him excel once more.
"He's a model of consistency," he told Sky Sports Racing.
"He appreciates any sort of ground, really, probably just not tacky ground.
"The run at Haydock, he was drawn away from our main rivals on the day, so that was a little bit tricky, but he's come back from that run really well.
"He was always a big, scopey individual last year and he keeps strengthening. In the sprinting division, that physical strength is achievable with more time, I definitely feel it with this guy.
"I'm looking forward to Champions Day with him – that will be his next run – he did a super piece of work this morning and is in very good form."
