Promising three-year-old Prosperous Return made it back-to-back wins in the $50,000 Class 4 Division 2 race over 1200m on Saturday with connections saying that was only a taste of things to come.
After the grade riser scored by an even bigger margin than at his debut nose win at Restricted Maiden level five weeks ago, assistant-trainer Michael 'Chopsy' White let in that the Fighting Sun three-year-old was running "against his natural pattern".
Just like at his last-start win when ridden by Vlad Duric, Prosperous Return , with Louis-Philippe Beuzelin up this time, was ridden positive from his wide alley to take up a handy posie outside leader Asgard Massif (Hakim Kamaruddin).
In the home straight, he kept finding once he collared Asgard Massif, clearing out to a two-length win. King's Command (A'Isisuhairi Kasim) sprouted wings late but could not overhaul the winner, let alone the runner-up, settling for third place another three-quarter length away.
Prosperous Return ($26) clocked 1min 11.4secs for the 1200m on the Polytrack. Favourite Heavenly Dancer (Vlad Duric) blew his chances when he missed the start, taking ninth place, just behind another well-backed runner who failed to live up to expectations, Radiant Success (Marc Lerner).
"This horse wants a mile but he has such a high cruising speed. He's actually going against his natural pattern, ideally, he should run more relaxed," said White.
"He sat outside the leader, but Louis summed it up well. He had all the favours and he put it away like a horse going places.
"It looks like he can go up to 1400m-1600m. I'm not quite sure how good he is, but what I know is we haven't seen the best of him."
Beuzelin concurred with White the new Tivic Stable find – Heartening Flyer is their current pin-up horse - will keep going on an upward spiral.
"Today, he had something to chase. There was a good strong pace, he was very easy and relaxed throughout," said the French jockey.
"He needs longer, 1600m. He will continue to improve – this is only the beginning of the ascension."
Well named, Prosperous Return has already banked in around $70,000 from his two wins from three starts for the Tivic Stable.
