Field Of Vision has Good Friday in his sights

3 minute read

Talented performers Gracious John and Field Of Vision headline five runners in the £19,000 Watch Racing UK On 3 Devices Conditions Stakes at Kempton Park on Sunday.

The six-furlong contest on Polytrack is a Fast-Track Qualifier for the £150,000 Unibet Three-Year-Old Sprint Championships over five furlongs at Lingfield Park on All-Weather Championships Finals Day, Good Friday, March 25.

Gracious John (David Evans/John Egan) is on a roll, having won four of his last five starts, and most recently lowered the colours of the Group Two Flying Childers Stakes runner-up Ornate in a five-furlong conditions event at Lingfield Park on January 5. Prior to that, he had captured the Listed Prix Zeddaan over six furlongs on turf at Maisons-Laffite, France, on October 31.

Field Of Vision (Joe Tuite/George Baker) also ended the turf season in great form, finishing second to high-class filly Quiet Reflection in five-furlong events - the Listed Harry Roseberry Stakes at Ayr and the Group Three Cornwallis Stakes at Newmarket. Earlier in the year, he broke the two-year-old course record when making all in a five-furlong maiden on Polytrack at Chelmsford City in August, his only victory of the campaign.

Tuite said today: "Field Of Vision has had a holiday and it was always the plan to start him back in this race because we want to see if he stays the six furlongs. We think he will but whatever he does on Sunday, he will be better for it.

"I was very happy with him last season and by the end of it he had accumulated quite a bit of prize money. He was under the weather during the first half of the season and it was only after Goodwood that he came to himself. He improved hugely from then until the end of the season.

"We hope to win a Fast-Track Qualifier, then one more run and on to Lingfield for the big Good Friday meeting. It is going to be a tough race on Sunday though because David Evans has a good horse in there, that's for sure."

Evans is also represented by Thatsallimsaying (Cathy Gannon), who was runner-up in a Listed race at Newbury in August. The field is completed by impressive Lingfield Park maiden scorer Khameela (David Simcock/Pat Cosgrave) and Yeah Baby Yeah Gay Kelleway/Luke Morris).
