Trainer Clive Cox is hoping that his dual Group 2-winner, Heartache, can make a successful step up to Group 1 company when she contests the Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse on Saturday (30th September).
Victorious in both the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot in June and the Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster ten days ago, Heartache is part of a classy 16-strong entry for this six furlong fillies’ contest.
It is being sponsored by Juddmonte for the first time and is part of a fabulous seven–race card which also features the Group 1 Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes, the Group 2 Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes and the first leg of the Betfred Autumn Double, the Betfred Cambridgeshire Handicap.
Heartache’s potential opponents include the Aidan O’Brien-trained pair of Churchill’s full-sister, Clemmie, winner of the Group 2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes (sponsored by bet365) at Newmarket’s Moët and Chandon July Festival, and the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes heroine, Happily.
France will be represented by the Group 3 Albany Stakes winner, Different League, while, alongside Heartache, the home team also features Threading and Madeline, the first two home in last month’s Group 2 Lowther Stakes.
The Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes has attracted one supplementary entry (at a cost of £16,000) in the shape of the Dean Ivory-trained Eirene, winner of the Listed St Hugh’s Stakes and subsequently runner-up in the Group 3 Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes.

“I am very pleased to report that Heartache has come back 100 per cent from her Flying Childers start, which was little more than a week ago. She is in tremendous form.”
“I think and hope that the step up to six furlongs in the Juddmonte Cheveley Park will be within her boundaries, especially if conditions on the Rowley Mile remain as they are now. I am hopeful that the course does not get too much rain before Saturday.”

“Adam Kirby missed out as he was unable to do the weight in the Flying Childers but will be back on board on Saturday.”
