Ballysax Stakes winner Nelson is one of three contenders for Aidan O’Brien in the Betfred Derby Trial at Lingfield on Saturday.

The Ballydoyle handler has claimed this Listed prize four times in the last 10 years and looks set to launch another strong bid.

Nelson, who is a son of Frankel, narrowly outpointed stablemate Delano Roosevelt at Leopardstown last month and both horses are in the mix to run at Lingfield.

The other O’Brien-trained entrant is Kew Gardens, who was third in the Feilden Stakes at Newmarket on his seasonal reappearance.

There are 18 entries in total for the Lingfield Derby Trial.

Other contenders include John Gosden’s dominant Yarmouth winner Corelli and Richard Hannon’s impressive Nottingham scorer Department Of War.

O’Brien is doubly represented in the Betfred Mobile Oaks Trial on the same card, with Flattering, who was a winner at Cork at the weekend, joined by stable companion Queen Iseult.

Gosden could call upon Stream Song, while Ralph Beckett – who has won this prize three times – has entered Kempton winner Cecchini.

Group Three honours are up for grabs in the Betfred ‘Supports Jack Berry House’ Chartwell Fillies’ Stakes.

Sixteen entries for this seven-furlong heat include Mark Johnston’s Threading, Karl Burke’s Ellthea and Snowdrop Fillies’ Stakes heroine Hunaina, trained in France by Henri-Francois Devin.
