3 minute read

Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore chase what would be a sixth consecutive Chester Vase at Chester tonight.

O'Brien and Moore have combined to win the past five editions of the Chester Vase, Ruler Of The World good enough to follow up with success at Epsom, and all five were sent out favourite.

In 2018 the pair combine with Hunting Horn and he could well follow that trend of being favourite but it's very competitive this year and winning will be no easy task.

Assessed Prices:

Young Rascal $4.00; Ispolini $6.50; Proschema $6.50; Hunting Horn $7.50; Flag Of Honour $7.50;

In fact, on Racing and Sports' assessed markets there are three horses marked more likely than O'Brien's Hunting Horn, and his stablemate Flag Of Honour seems just as well equipped.

The O'Brien pair come off similar efforts in trials either side of the channel and both look sure to relish the longer trip on offer at Chester.

Young Rascal looked a smart prospect at Newbury, though, and might be a little bit ahead of the O'Brien runners on what we saw there.

Proschema is another that arrives off a wide-margin win last time that impressed both visually and against the clock and he must be considered a strong chance in a deep and competitive edition of this time-honoured Derby Trial.

Suggested Bet: Back Young Rascal in the Chester Vase.
