Drovers Lane has the Sodexo Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase at Ascot on February 16 as his next target.

Trainer Rebecca Curtis gave the progressive seven-year-old a bit of a break having been on the go since May.

His last performance was most certainly his best, though, beating Le Breuil and Jenkins at Cheltenham.

“He’ll go to the Reynoldstown next, I think,” said Curtis.

“We’d like to step him back up to three miles and see how well he stays. Obviously after that we’ll have a better indication of which race to go for at Cheltenham in March.

“Most of ours had a nice break over Christmas, but they are back fresh again now.

“He’s been doing his winning on good ground and I’ve read there’s no real rain forecast for at least another month – who knows?”

Another nice horse in the Curtis yard is novice hurdler Lisnagar Oscar who runs at Chepstow on Friday.

“The plan is to run him in the Albert Bartlett and I think he’ll just keep on improving, he is doing so at home all the time,” said Curtis.

“He’s going to be a very nice novice chaser next year so we’re just having some fun this season as it’s a bonus.

“He’ll definitely go chasing next year, the owners are some of the owners who had O’Faolains Boy and they love their three-mile chasers so it’s a case of the sooner he gets over fences the better.”
