George Bowen out to continue fine Fahey record

3 minute read

Richard Fahey is hoping that George Bowen can provide him with a fourth victory in the £150,000 Betway All-Weather Sprint Championship (3.05pm) on £1-million All-Weather Championships Finals Day, Good Friday, April 19, at Lingfield Park

The Malton-based trainer boasts a remarkable record in the six-furlong Polytrack contest, having sent out the winner or had placed horses in all five runnings, including three victories courtesy of dual champion Alben Star (2014 & 2016) and Kimberella (2017).

George Bowen heads into Good Friday following three appearances this All-Weather Championships season and the 107-rated seven-year-old gained an easy success on his latest outing in a six-furlong Polytrack handicap at Kempton Park on March 30.

The son of Dark Angel is a 10/1 chance with race sponsor Betway, which makes star sprinter Kachy the 4/6 favourite to follow up an impressive victory in the Listed Betway Cleves Stakes at Lingfield Park on February 2, when he broke the course record.

Fahey reported: "George Bowen runs in the All-Weather Sprint. He qualified for Finals Day on his latest outing - we had to get three runs into him and luckily we did that in time.

"He won very nicely at Kempton the other day and hopefully he can go well in the Sprint. Kachy will take a fair bit of beating, but George Bowen will hopefully be thereabouts."
