Skardu  is likely to run in the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas – as long as the ground is not soft.

Winner of the Craven Stakes for William Haggas, the Shamardal colt finished third to Magna Grecia in the Guineas at Newmarket.

When the field split in the Classic he was the first home on his side of the track, and Haggas has been pleased with him since.

“The plan is to leave him in the Irish 2000 Guineas,” said Haggas on Friday.

“He worked very well yesterday and we are going to confirm on Monday and then take it from there.

“He doesn’t want soft ground. That would be the deciding factor, providing he stays fit and well next week.

“The Guineas didn’t leave a mark on him and he seems in great form.”
