Andre Fabre remains keen on a tilt at the Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket with his unbeaten juvenile Earthlight .

The Godolphin-owned juvenile has made giant strides in the last two months – progressing from a narrow maiden victory at Maisons-Laffitte in mid-June to winning a conditions race, a Group Three and the Group One Prix Morny at Deauville.

In the immediate aftermath of his top-level victory over Mark Johnston's top-class filly Raffle Prize, Fabre nominated the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket as a likely spring target for his Shamardal colt.

The French maestro is also in favour of giving him an early look at the Rowley Mile, in the Dewhurst on October 12 – a race he won with two subsequent 2000 Guineas winners in Zafonic (1992) and Pennekamp (1994) and a subsequent Guineas fourth in Xaar (1997).

Fabre told PA: "I need to discuss it with the owners before finalising plans, but my opinion was that we should run in the Dewhurst – so we will see.

"It is not only that he would get experience of the track – the Dewhurst is also a very nice race to win."

Ground conditions were officially described as heavy in the Prix Morny, but Fabre would not be unduly worried should faster terrain prevail at Newmarket.

"That is not a concern," he added.
